It does. It sucks. And not in some minor, nitpicky way—it sucks in a way that actively ruins what could have been an incredible experience. Every time I find myself immersed in the gameplay, pulled into the chaos—which, by the way, I love—I’m yanked out by the deafening absence of something vital: the music.

Where is the pulse? Where is the adrenaline? Where’s the soundtrack that should be fueling the action? All I can think is: why is my blood only slightly pumping when it should be boiling?

I’ve tried to be polite. I’ve tried to give the benefit of the doubt. But let’s be real: Finishing Move, you weren’t the right fit for this. Whether it was lack of experience, creative direction, or just not having the right instincts for this kind of project—you missed the mark. Hard. Your RIFFS are flat-out GENERIC, UNIMAGINATIVE and BOOOORING. There’s nothing memorable, nothing that commands attention. Just the same looping, lifeless “tatatatata” rhythm like you’re filling time instead of amplifying the moment.

And to Hugo and Marty: this is on you. You let it happen. You let this happen. You had the blueprint. You had the legacy. You had Mick Gordon. And instead, we got this? I’m listening to the 2016 soundtrack as I write this, and the contrast is painful. That music defined the tone. This one fades into the background like it’s afraid to be noticed.

It is clearer than a freaking supernova blowing in your face: Mick Gordon was 50% of what made the DOOM revival great. You hate this, your mouth fills with venom just thinking about it... But it was true. It is true.

So here it is, with all the bitter joy I can muster: the most gigantic, blazing, molten-hot digital middle finger I can conjure in this virtual space—straight to the lot of you. Cherish it. You’ve earned every pixel.

Honestly? I’m not surprised the game flopped. You earned that too. I feel sorry for all the devs and programmers that worked so hard on the game to make it so mechanically AWESOME. But that ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ lackluster music.

Hulshult was busy finishing his remixes of the Doom 2 soundtrack for the new classic doom port. I also think id specifically wanted a band to do the soundtrack as well and not a singular personality that people will attach to.
