Its a shame
Yeah, it's probably a console limitation issue. Some games (Far Cry 5, Kingdom Come Deliverance etc.) offer a high-res texture pack for PC players, as that doesn't impact performance using a graphics card with sufficient VRAM. Dark Ages would definitely benefit from higher res textures.
The visuals overall in Dark Ages are great once your fix the HDR, but there are too many low-res eye sores IMO - like straight out of a 2005 game.
I get your point, but not to the same extent. There are some low-res stuff in DE if you get real close (nothing really bad), but in Dark Ages you can easily see extremely low res textures going by while fighting enemies - parts of space ships, glowing barrels etc.
A big part of my enjoyment of the recent Doom games are the visuals, as there isn't much a real story. The environments themselves kinda become the story during the campaign IMO.
Better high-res textures for PC gamers would make a world of difference for this game type of game.

Nice! I didn't know path tracing was planned for this game, but I doubt it will fix the extremely low res textures in question. Looking forward to test the game with PT though.
