Why such low player count? game is pretty solid. Not as good as eternal but i'm still having a ton of fun
i guess first person shooter single player campaigns are dead. RIP my childhood.

Because the game doesn't have a soundtrack. Not only is the music mid someone did horrible mixing and you could barely hear it in game.

Most are undoubtedly playing off of gamepass or on console

I got it and I'm finding it really boring so far. Time to go back to Daggerfall and rip and tear through some dungeons.

Basically not true Fans of Doom.
Because the games best on Gamepass...people don't feel as guilty paying for a sub to play a 12 hour romps...most people play the campaign once and call it a wrap
Renting the game is not the same as owning it.
It's on Xbox Game Pass so no need to pay $70 for it if you already have the subscription anyways.
Why would anyone assume "first person shooters" are dead, due to some "low player count"? No idea where you get player count, but maybe it's telling us SOMETHING. But what? You can't tell without more metrics. Maybe some people are doing a wait and see. Maybe some people are working, and there will be more players this weekend. Maybe some people watched all the videos, and decided this game was not for them. IMO, this is a fun game. Here's a thought for anyone reading this, who is thinking of player, but is thinking it's too much money when there's uncertainty. My friend is playing via some Microsoft service, and he paid like $15, to play for some amount of time. That's my advice if you are on fence. Otherwise, all I can say is that I am having fun. Of course it's not like Doom 2016, or Doom Eternal. They wanted to do something different. Still feels like Doom, if you discount flight or mech time :) Also, Nvidia is probably screwing people who are struggling with all their recent driver issues, but that's probably not a lot of people, because those 5xxx cards were stupid expensive, way over MSRP.

$70 for a 10-15 hour game, highest PC requirements in history, no Mick Gordon or other impressive music which is iconic to Doom/Quake

no one needs to own a 15 hour game

8 hour game*
Doom 2016 had a 44k peak playercount before gamepass existed. Eternal had a 100k peak playercount during covid when everyone was at home gaming. TDA has had a 30k peak playercount and its on gamepass. I'd say its somewhere between Doom 2016 and Eternal.

Sorry but that is totally wrong, the game will last far longer if we want to get 100% content out of it.
It's solid like the turds you squat out after eating a box of Triscuits.
