How big of a step back is the removal of glory kills?
It looks like all the unique kills (which were awesome) are replaced with a kick or punch. For people who bought the game how noticeable is it? Does it feel like a downgrade or is it whatever?

If you genuinely enjoyed seeing the same animations over and over for glory kills then yes, this is a step back. In practice it isn't actually any change in gameplay except that now most fodder enemies don't go into "execute me" state, it's reserved for the tankier ones, but it functions the same. There are also still much shorter enemy-specific animations that can be triggered
They removed the usual "press e" and kinda melted it over the entire melee system. Now you're doing the glory kill yourself, and then you have the option of doing a finishing blow or getting those previously mentioned enemy-specific animations. With the different gameplay of this compared to Eternal (which I've played the most), the old glory kill system would make the gameplay super choppy.
They are still inside

When playing the game, seeing the enemy numbers, seeing how the gameplay loop works - it makes a lot of sense why executions work the way they do. Full on glory kills are still there in some scenarios, but overall you don't want to spend very long staring at each demon because you have barrages of projectiles being spammed at you.

Even during the melee animations you can take damage and need to be aware of stuff behind you - with this system you have camera control still and can fluidly move onto the next bad guy.

Feels better to me with this system, much more fluid. You still have the occasional glory kill thrown in as well they are just more rare... they're even more brutal then previous games too.
I feel like just having the simple executions help it flow a lot better than Eternal, plus there are still some glory kills, you just have to get it right or kill the right guy

I don't really get how anybody could say they are removed completely, that's just wrong. There are still definitely glory kills they are just less common. Sometimes after finishing a big enemy I will just kick them and they will die, other times it will play an animation like stomping on them and finishing them off or cutting off their head. Then there are more scripted moments in the game that feel very similar to glory kills where you acquire upgrades from some enemies and it plays a certain glory kill animation where you rip their heart out. They are still there they just happen less often.
