Please consider support for GTX 1660 Ti / Non-RTX GPUs in DOOM: The Dark Ages
Dear Development Team and Community Managers,

First of all, thank you for bringing DOOM: The Dark Ages to life. The design, atmosphere, and gameplay direction are amazing and promising.

However, I’ve encountered a disappointing roadblock:
I own a GTX 1660 Ti, which, while not an RTX card, has enough power to run games like DOOM Eternal at solid performance. Unfortunately, it seems the game now enforces a strict requirement for RTX cards, preventing it from launching at all on my system.

I kindly ask the development team to please consider:

Adding a “legacy GPU mode” or a way to play on low settings without ray tracing.

Or allowing us to bypass the GPU check, so players can take the performance risk at their own discretion.

Many gamers still use GTX-level hardware, and offering this option would allow more fans to enjoy this amazing new title. Your work is appreciated, and I hope this feedback can help make the game more accessible.

Looking forward to hearing from you, and thanks again for your dedication!

Same problem, can't believe i payed 100 dollars just to not let me play
It's not a performance issue. The game literally has no baked in lighting, you need RT to see anything. RT global illumination is the only lighting solution in the game. There's a certain point where we all have to move on from old hardware.

I suggest making sure you meet the minimum specs before purchasing next time.
dude.. that card is 6 years old. time to upgrade your computer. you basically bought a ps5 game for a ps4
Update your hardware or stick to the many games you can still play, not everything has to pander to 6 year old entry level GPUs.

the 1660 is literally such a piece of ♥♥♥♥ fella
Ray-tracing is becoming the standard for new aaa games, sorry to break it to you and second of all why are you still using the 10 series like your driver support for those cards are getting winded down since January of this year because nvidia no longer wants to support it anymore

"old" systems have been abandoned by AAA. Best to accept it and not waste your money on low effort cash grabs

why do people not read system requirements?

What if he/she doesn't have enough money for RTX? Or he/she just doesn't want to spend more money on a monitor, keyboard, mouse, etc. because he/she got a laptop?

Well then he/she shouldn't be expecting to be able to run games using the latest game engines and running the latest technology on really old or low end hardware.
that would be a waste of time and resources.
I hope you get your wish.

I love it when people say I spent money on a game that their PC doesn't meet the minimum requirements. People like that seriously need to do their research beforehand.
