30k peak concurrent players on release is really bad
This is the next big FPS from IdSoftware we're talking about here. For comparison, Eternal had 100k. The reboot itself (2016) had 40k, back when Steam was a much smaller platform (1/3 of current DAU). I know it's on GamePass, but Expedition 33, for example, is there too and had 145k peak concurrent players on release. Stalker 2 also had a GamePass release, 120k peak concurrent players on release. Twitch viewership is not amazing (compared to something like Stalker 2 on release), but not terrible either (slightly below Expedition 33)... I guess the game's promos just don't translate to sales as well as they should? I wonder if it's mostly due to the crazy price or people just not finding the game's gameplay and direction as appealing as Eternal's...

it released pretty late yesterday and it is still pretty early. I am guessing this weekend will be more informative on how well the game is received. however, 30k is not very good at the moment.

Are these threads being ran through AI? I swear I've read at least 20 of them now that say the exact same thing.

Expedition 33 has currently 70K players, added that game to my wish list, looks good.

Probably because ist 80 euro and also in gamepass, i mean you can get a 12 month game pass pc key and pay less than 80 euros :D

Maybe a lot of people who played during advanced access already completed the game

Expedition 33 released recently, is a turn based rpg and is on Gamepass. 130.000 on steam.

Sorry bud it's just cope =°/
It's not great, but it released at 1am here int he UK many of us where asleep I only got a chance to play for 1.5 hours today around mid day. The world wide release across time zones will have flattened the peak a bit.

But in all honesty this game is a bit niche and never likely to be a major blockbuster on PC. Doom eternal only made 100k concurrent users at release, which then dropped like a stone.

Add to that a high price tag and relatively small replay-ability with a fairly short campaign and many will have decided to wait for a sale.

None of which means I don't think it looks and plays well and it certainly performs very well on my PC, but things like high price, high requirements and being a bit niche will all impact sales and the world wide release schedule will also flatten out the usual sign wave a little.

Tracking worse than games that actually bombed like DAV, Avowed and AC Shadows. Not looking good.

Who cares?

Caring about player numbers is clown-tier. Just play games you enjoy.

isn't that some animoo game?

Maybe they'll learn from this, and the next release won't be so insulting? Then again, probably not.

Bro y'all have had 7+ years to upgrade to a GPU that supports ray tracing on even the most basic level. The only people that need to learn from this are you.

I would say turn based RPG games are currently less niche on PC than this type of FPS to be honest.
