Doom Dark Ages litterally too dark.
I don't know why, I'm sure there's going to be a fix for this but in most areas It's pitch black.
I have a rtx 3060 and the game does run okayish.

I tried just putting the gamma up but then in the bright areas it looks gross.

I played doom eternal and doom 2016 at pretty much max settings and both of those games are amazing to play. This game on the other hand is harder to run visually and it doesn't even look that good. is there some setting I'm missing? is my hardware just out of date?

most likely just gonna have to wait for them to optimise the game.

After doing some research. this is a vram issue. the game forces ray tracing and basically my 6gb card just can't handle it.

There was a similar issue for when indiana jones came out and people were having lighting issues because of the low vram. eventually they fixed it in that game. hard to say when doom dark ages will get a similar patch or even if it will.

It's pretty cancer expecting people to drop way more money for a new pc when the 3060 only came out in 2021. Doom eternal looked great and all this pc graphical upgrading just seems like a gimmick.

This game doesn't even have Mick Gordon anymore anyways. they really dropped the ball on this one and I'm disappointed.

Yah man I feel the same way. I'm pretty disappointed and hopefully they can release a patch. Not worth the hassle for a $70 game. Should be optimized.

I think this is exactly what it is, there isn't any setting to enable. where can I enable this?

I'm going to reinstall the game maybe this might help.
There is a setting to enable. It's called indirect lighting or bounce lighting.

Same here, with a 6GB 3050.

The indirect lighting render pass is simply missing from the picture, completely ruining the atmosphere and in many cases gameplay as well. It's funny because otherwise it runs at 60fps at 1080p with medium settings.

Same card same issue. Had this same problem with Indian Jones and the great circle too.

Download the files from this link. Paste in main game directory. Voila problem solved.

This issue only happens with laptop 6gb cards as they dont give entire 6gb as vram instead they give around 5.8-5.9gb. These files spoof the vram and makes the game think that it is getting 6.1gb vram which results in the RT being turned on automatically.

To confirm if it worked just put the performance metrics option to medium and check if RT:On is showing or not. In game in the first level also it should make all the dark areas clearly visible now as the rtgi starts working. This tanks fps a bit. From stable 70-80 fps I went to 55-60fps on ultra preset only shadows set to medium, dlss quality. Hope this helps.

Sadly it has only gone from 5.1 to 5.2. I don't understand why I have so little since I got 6GB vram, nonetheless this seems to be the solution.
I've got the same ,issue, running on a 4050 laptop, the game runs good I am getting 100+ fps, but ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ everything is dark

Did you just drop directly the files into the directory? Nothing else?
For anybody that doesn't want their performance halved by this solution, which works but as mentioned, greatly reduces the performance, I found a really ♥♥♥♥♥♥ workaround. Instead of changing the gamma value just turn on the HDR mode. The game looks worse because of that but in my opinion its better than either seeing nothing or having to play at around 30FPS on mobile 3060. Just make sure to tweak the HDR options to lower the degradation of image quality
