Microsoft PC Exclusivity on Battle.net in the future?
Microsoft just released their first game on Battle.net:
"Avowed" ( the game itself is irrelevant for this discussion )

Actually expected that a lot earlier to happen but I do wonder if Battle.net will be the actual future of Microsoft PC - or more like I expected it to happen within the next 5-10 year ever since they purchased Activision. COD & Blizzard's games couldn't have been the only reason they bought it.

What are your thoughts? Will everything gaming from Microsoft on PC shift to Battle.net in the future?

avowed is on steam too and it's not released on either platforms, there's no exclusivity

they already tried exclusivity and it didn't work out, that's why they came back to steam, if anything they'll just be putting more and more games on both bnet and steam

Well, I hope they keep releasing their games on Steam, but if you ever wanted to have a competitor on PC then Battle-net would have always been the best bet. I think that was one reason why MS bought Activision as well.

Battle.net probably wasn't a main reason for M$ purchase.

Blizzard's IPs are very strong and have a big fanbase. If anything thr purchase is the reason we're seeing Blizzard games pop up on Steam.

It's more likely Bnet gets shelved by them over Steam.
Microsoft bought Activision because they own King Digital Media. King Digital accounted for slightly more than half of Activision's profits and is a major player in the mobile-gaming space, an area where Microsoft didn't have much of a foothold. That the acquisition also netted them Call of Duty and World of Warcraft (and removed a competitor from the board to boot!) were bonuses to that primary goal.
