DOOM: The Dark Ages

DOOM: The Dark Ages

Why not reboot Hexen/Heretic?
Why is Doom being milked when it had already ended on a high note (screwing over Mick Gordon aside)?
Heretic/Hexen would have fit the magitek setting even better, imo.
It's sometimes okay to let a franchise die with dignity rather than to keep it alive like an undead abomination, Bethesda.

Hexen / Heretic are neither idSoftware nor Bethesda. Go ask this on the Call of Duty forums. :spyro:

Pretty sure both those games were published by id software. And Microsoft now owns Activision which bought out Raven Software, I see no reason why Hexen/Heretic can't be raised from the dead.

Maybe don't talk about things you have no info on. :HFR_Sigh:

Yeah... I forgot this was the Steam forums :squirtheh:

Yes, idSoftware published the original Hexen and Heretic. That's all. The sequels were published by Activision and they are the ones that own the IPs.

And indeed, Microsoft owns Activision and Raven. So again, it'd be more relevant to ask this on the forum of a game developed in part by Raven and published by Activision.
Is Call of Duty has such a negative connotation nowadays that simply using its name is perceived as an attack ?

Damn, son! Forum monitors out in force today, or just a 'mod' alt account? Practice what you preach instead of keeping this thread alive.

On a related note, what's up with so many people getting butthurt at any minor criticism of Bethesda recently?

I apologise for coming off too strong. It's difficult to read the tone of a text, and reference to Call of Duty indeed is associated negatively most of the times.

Lol at "minor criticism."

But, to actually respond to your unqualified question: re-why bethdefense, they just released basically full mod tools and asset packs for Doom Eternal yesterday.

So your bros at damubatheersda-id just went completely against the modern trend of taking stuff away from fully cycled products and/or abandoning them and doubled down as hard as they could on it. And rumor is they're considering making TDA easier to mod as well right out the gate.

Maybe someone will build you a Hexen III with mod tools?

You say "undead abomination," I say "Eternal." And I think OG fans who've been modding Doom for 3 decades would agree.

Because Doom is the waaaaay bigger franchise.
