DOOM: The Dark Ages
No Mick Gordon, no buy!
New soundtrack sounds like a cheap generic rock written by AI, huge downgrade from previous games.

Ditto!
Music was one of the biggest strengths of DOOM and DOOM Eternal, and that will clearly not be the case here. :steambored:
Andrew isn't the composer there?

Andrew isn't the composer there?
He is I guess, but judging by his work on DLCs for Eternal, he is average at best as composer, no way I add new OST to my playlist, just boring plain rock.
No wonder he was fine with Zenimax ridiculous deadlines, dude probably used stock samples to write quickly his soundtracks.

But his Doom 1 remixes were praised as being great tho.

Stock sampling isn't an issue per se, Naganuma did great with Sega game compositions.

Maybe he is ok, but nothing special about his soundtracks, just ambient generic music. He is more Danny Elfman than Hans Zimmer. With Gordon's music it felt something out of our world, something alien, very unique sound that fit Doom universe.

Personally I think Aubrey Hodges did a good job as well as Bobby Prince.

I can see why Trent Reznor cannot come back for id software OST but I wish they'd give a more "esotheric" soundtrack and not just metal because Doom 1 wasn't all about that either.

Nah, I'm fine without that generic heavy-metal garbage.

"that generic heavy-metal garbage" was precisely what DOOM TDA trailer showed... :steamfacepalm:

Mick's best work was for Killer Instinct, which I will give him mad props for. He didn't get enough respect for that.

It's commendable that he made you consider whether or not you should turn off the music and play your Meshuggah while playing 2016, but he isn't doing anything this groupie-worthy.

The virtue-signalling has more to do with the Reddit war than whether anyone can replace him and we all know this. The TAGs proved others can step in and make non-Djent music sound great in Doom.

I think they should go in a completely different direction. See Blood Swamps for a great example.

Good. I don't want drama-concerned philistines to play my doom games

good luck making a bet on doom sells bad
How about having a metal guitarist and composer to make the OST?

between sells good and sells enough is a huge difference, especially with current state of market

He is more Danny Elfman than Hans Zimmer.
So, he’s better?
