Lore thoughts.

Hello friends. I think dark ages take place in the so called first age? During Argenta great war against Hell. Certainly before slayer engraved into some kind of black magic hibernation, as we learn in 2016. Maybe take place in a total alternative Argenta historic dimension? Maybe thousand of years in the past. We dont know for certain the life span of a common Argentan, for example.

In Doom 64, Doomguy chose to stay in Hell, which is a dimension between dimensions and a timeless place. Something happened and he somehow fell out of Hell and stumbled upon Argenta people in another universe. He was wounded and they helped him after he proven himself in the arena. Then he led them in wars against demons (which is what this game is gonna be). Demons dropped stones on him and put him in the coffin. Next, 2016 and Eternal happened.

Maybe. But in the Ancient Gods Part 1, we only know Samur brought him over to the Argenta universe. But for all we know, Samur's actions weren't perfect, and during his FIRST attempt, he got it wrong and sent Doomguy to a different universe instead.

Maybe. But in the Ancient Gods Part 1, we only know Samur brought him over to the Argenta universe. But for all we know, Samur's actions weren't perfect, and during his FIRST attempt, he got it wrong and sent Doomguy to a different universe instead.

As i say in another discussion post, i highly doubt that doom slayer is the marine from previous Doom stories. As we see with the different skins in Eternal, alternate history plays different here.

Regardless of what you think Eternal makes it clear he is the same character form Doom 1 and 2.

Did you not play the level that specifically exists to lore dump the fact the Doom Slayer is the same marine from the classic games?

You are right about the fact of the level says that, or by the codex image clearly shows a marine with early doom armor walk with chains and escort by argentian troops, but i have a feeling that things its not so clear yet.

As per the codex - only one destroyer exists in the infinite possibilities of time that will bring ruin to the maykrs. There is also only one Urdak and one Jekkad since they exist outside of normal time. The skins don't indicate there are multiple Doom Slayers but if you think so I'd like to see a source.

Also there's a pre-release video where Hugo says Eternal will answer the question of whether it's the same guy or not... not hard to put the rest together if you've played sentinel prime or heard the Slayer Testaments. It was also said 2016 in late development was decided to be a soft-reboot that takes place after Doom 64.

My hope is it'll be by March 2025, exactly 5 years after Eternal came out.

But one way or another, I WILL expect more gameplay footage before the year is out.

Yeah I know. But I'm not expecting the next trailer until around gamescom or something in Sept.
