Battlezone 64 : Rise of the Black Dogs, played it?
Have you played the N64 version of this game? I still have it on N64 lol. It's amazing to revisit... and the fact that the have a full action / strategy hybrid on freakin N64, way ahead of its time, is just phenomenal. I think it would have had a better life if it had allowed the full action-rts experience in multiplayer as well but oh well. I replay the missions from time to time. :BZCCTank:

I rented it as a kid but as I already had the PC version it was extremely disappointing. I currently have a copy and a working N64 though.
There was supposed to be a remake of the ROTBD campaign made for BZ98R but it's been at a standstill for a long long time and probably won't see the light of day.

the black dogs existed in BZ1 and The Red Odyssey anyways - ROTBD was just them getting ANOTHER of their own campaigns
I actually didn't know about the PC version until it was remade as the redux version. I played the N64 version alot as a kid and even as a teenager too. It's funny as I never and still don't know anyone IRL that plays battlezone N64 or Redux. I just randomly walked into a game store a long time ago and saw a futuristic looking tank on the cover of rise of the black dogs and bought it just because I was bored and the cover reminded me of the first video game I ever played (battletanx global assualt N64). Their was a group of BZ players on steam attempting a massive non-official expansion project, actually I think their was a small number of these projects of different scales. I assume they where around moding the game before the redux treatment but I don't know. Anyway one of these projects was to re-create alot of the exclusive N64 content in redux. I don't know but I think that most of these projects are either operating with a skeleton crew or have been abandon sadly. But their are some mods on the workshop to get things like the music as featured in the N64 version as well as the voice lines for the black dogs units. Thier fun to have and bring a nice wave of nostalgia. Either way I'm happy to have the BZ content that we do, but I check the workshop every once in a blue moon to see if maybe, just maybe new single player content is available. Random question did you ever play the three arcade modes to their completion? I thought it was weird they had an end and didn't just loop or something but then again the game was really pushing the limits of that console. In the end I like the PC verison more but just barely, I am bias for N64 thought.

the remake of ROTBD for BZ98R may someday be completed but by then it's unlikely anyone will be alive to play it. "IRL" ♥♥♥♥ and the pandemic put the kibosh on voiceover work for the campaign though the missions themselves are largely done. There's at least two that need a lot of TLC and I've worked on them somewhat but until I see other aspects of development moving forward, I'm not going to kill myself finishing the scripts.
The N64 campaign is pretty bad and, prior to my getting involved at all, certain missions were wholesale replaced.
Work on it has barely moved an inch over a few years now. I've made some mission improvements to code originally written by others and that's about it.

We'll see ...

Own it was alright the story was bad and honestly I think they missed the mark by not making it a 4 player co op game

heh, how many frames per minute second would you like for that there co-op campaign?
You only get a single digit.
"the best I can do is 7 (FPS)"
EDIT: "The best I can do is 4 (FPS)."

It would have been amazing to just have two-player with base-building. They could take Herzog Zwei's approach and just have that as the ONLY mode and it would have worked. An A.I. to fill in, solid multiplayer very replayable. Would have been great. The story is fun, but stories entrap. This game was about that brilliant combination of gameplay styles.
