To start off, is your system 32-bit or 64-bit? I've seen and HAD that error with 64-bit versions of OC6, but so far never in 32-bit.

Also, lemme guess, you can only exit OC6 through the task manager?

It's a known bug in oC6. If you've tinkered with the windows registry before or are willing to get your hands dirty, I would suggest uninstalling oC6, then opening regedit.exe. Then, find and delete any registry entries named 'portalgraphics'. Reinstall it afterwards. This is a know workaround and something that I've always had to do everytime I install oC6 on a freshly reformatted computer. Let me know if you need any help with this

Fontes, that's interesting. How does one get the 32-bit version anyways? I have the steam version...

Weirdly enough, this did NOT work with my girlfriend. She's stuck doing stuff on our tablet, for now. :/

i am not sure which version it is, its known as the steam version, is there a way to know which version i installed?, I shall try Vivex method and see if it works.

Both claims are weird since both my 32-bit laptop and 64-bit desktop receive similar errors at random. Some bug.

I have the Retail version, so I just download it straight from their website: http://www.portalgraphics.net/en/

For Steam, I assume it auto-detects and installs accordingly, but the latest update seems to be forcing 64-bit versions into 32-bit machines, which obviously doesn't work.

Thing is, seems the 32-bit version doesn't work on 64-bit PCs, either. Weird, I know.

Really? Yeah, that's weird. I guess some of these issues of mine may have to do with my Windows 8.1 machines...

Yeah, she's still on Windows 7, that might have something to do with it. Both my PC and the tablet are running on 8.1.

uninstall OC6, then type regedit in run and go search portalgraphics, click the arrow on portalgraphics and delete openCanvas6 steam edition. Then reinstall. It worked for me on Win 7 64bit

Well she's not the only one who gets this error one windows 7. I've had this problem since the previous OC, but the problem carried over. I've tried every fix imaginable (well, those that have been suggested like the registry fixes). It sucks that the registry fixes don't work for me. OC isn't the best program, but it is fun to show other people the event files.

For some If you had this same problem and had diffulties of understanding 肥龙的传人
Solution, I'll break down the steps for you.

+ oC6 for Dummies + -jokes*

- - - Winodws Only!!!!! - - - (My Version is Windowns 8.1)
1.) -Uninstall OpenCanvas 6 ( Steam Version )

2.) -Windows 8 or later: Go to the search bar and type. " regedit " without quote.
-Windows 7 ( Can't really confirm ): Go to the search bar of the bottom left and type in " run " without quotes.
-It should come out with a another search system that is opened in another window. Type in. " regedit " without quote and search.

3.) -Open regedit and locate the file Under HKEY_CURRENT_USER -> Software -> portablegraphics -> openCanvas6 Steam Edition.
-(It maybe under some other file if you don't own windows or because of older version.)

4.) Right Click the file and delete the whole file, " Not the file inside it "

5.) You can close that now and reinstall openCanvas 6 and it should be operational again.

THANK YOU AGAIN 肥龙的传人 For Your Discovery!!!

*Update 10/23/2015
~ You can just delete the openCanvas6 Steam Edition folder/file under " regedit " without uninstalling oCs6
