OpenCanvas Networking.
I heard that with this program its possible to paint with a friend in REAL time on the same canvas. Is it true? Is that still possible?

Only with the old 1.1b version, I'm afraid. That version is freeware, though, so it's still around. Wait a sec...

Here it is: http://wistinga.online.fr/opencanvas/

Now, that version is limited as all hell. But heck, OC as it is right now has too many tools to make networking viable, anyway. Still, have fun with that one!

Drawpile is very similar, free and up-to-date: http://drawpile.net/ ^^

I´ve been "spying" on this discussion for obvious reasons. It sounds really cool, the whole colaboration/real time drawing. Yet, it sounds like the "real" masterpieces is put on hold for the timebeing. Some day perhaps, this will be a reality, a future for serious artists! (hyped) Wish Adobe Photoshop would consider at least. I would partly sell my soul for such an opportunity! Like some kind of student-master colab, where you literally are on the same page!

While it would be nice to have, I'm afraid it's too impractical. Not saying it can't be done, but not everyone has a 32-core CPU, 128TB of RAM and a 1024PB/s connection to make it work seamlessly. Imagine applying a Gaussian Filter on a session with 8 people, or so. It's bad enough to do it offline, sometimes.

Took a look at that Drawpile, and it does look pretty nifty. Also works fine with Huion tablets, despite their claim of Wacom-only. Do pay attention that it doesn't have any filters or other overly-demanding tools, reinforcing my point that more complex programs like openCanvas6, Clip Studio Paint or even the behemoth that is Photoshop really shouldn't even try to have this feature.

Thank you all for your answers!

Yeah, thanks as well. Good stuff to consider. The idea is amazing, but I get that it can be too demanding at the moment.

Sorry to jump in on an old conversation... Being that you mention a 32 core CPU... does anyone here know how OpenCanvas performs on a 32 core CPU? With very big canvases - for example? Like 10,000 pixels. By perform I mean the brush.. Is there any lag at all, when painting quickly, or is it responsive in real time?

I know on the PortalGraphics page, they mention that OpenCanvas 7 is compatible with multi-threads processing. Here: http://www.portalgraphics.net/teaser/

But they only show 4 cores... Does anyone know if they support more cores? Does that mean the more cores, the faster the response time of the program? Or is individual core speed more important?
