is there a way to make the lmg guys stay on overwatch?
it's really annoying having them repeatedly deploy in the same fight just because it doesn't occur to them that if thirty zombies walked around a corner in a row slightly spaced out the next thirty will probably do the same so they un-deploy every single time they lost sight of enemies

No, it would be to OP
LMG is for crowd control and special situations

I know what it's for but but since it burns through so much rifle ammo as to be actually absurd you can't use it much anyway, all this mechanic ends up doing is making them un-deploy over and over in a single battle getting themselves or teammates killed for no reason and frustrating the player because of something that realistically should have been entirely avoidable, if there really must be a balancing mechanic besides the already absurd ammo cost couldn't it be that deploying or undeploying takes way longer or the lmg slows them down since it's such a massive weapon? I mean I'm not a programer or anything so I don't know how realistic different things are but as a player who has now had 3 seperate wipes because the lmg guy kept redeploying over and over as the zombies were rapidly closing in it can be really frustrating

It would be to OP.
LMG is for crowd control and special situations like:
- best for the final DEFCON TD special scenario
- good for large mobs of enemies when the situation is out of control
- good for bosses

For normal defense and push other weapons are recommended.

I will confirm this.

A fully upgraded LMG with piercing rounds on a high level character can almost single handedly infinitely (until you run out of ammo) hold off anything the game throws at you during the extraction mission.

It annihilates anything and it does so with the time between setups, so buffing this further is pointless.
