Why should I get a ban for leaving a 4v5 when it was 45-0 and my team wouldn't surrender
Why?

So I'm looking through here right now because EST is an awkward and forgotten timezone and I'm in a creative slump with my writing. As far as I can see this is people either saying 'why am I being punished for leaving when I have bad teammates' or 'don't quit, go for the participation award.' I'm going to speak my mind on this entire thing: Both sides are wrong.

Now let me get this straight: I don't like losing. Losing repeatedly is unrewarding, unfulfilling and just plain not fun as a result of the previous two. As someone who still can't build competent bots and refuses to share his money with anyone else I can say for a fact that I'm always the weak link in my team, but I'm willing to stick around when it looks like the team I've been given has decent bots and I can at least try to rush towards capture points to contest captures to give them that extra second of time to get their ass over to the point, maybe get the kill if I'm lucky and they choose to be idiots and not show up.

There are certain points however when surrender really is the best option. There are two artbots on your team, one bot is completely dysfunctional, Your teammates are foreign and cannot communicate with you. (seriously those map markers can only do so much.) Whenever this happens and the team won't surrender I find myself idling to get the rusted crate and get on with my life. This is not a practice I encourage but it's something I do anyway because I'm a spiteful bastard.

That is all I have to say.
I agree with the second paragraph (not the building/weak link part) but it's the third paragraph that I am talking about

The biggest problem with extending the ban period, is that the system can't seem to distinguish a deliberate quit from a lost connection. If you really want to hack off your user base, start giving your players extended bans when the game server kicks them out of a match they were in the process of winning.

I can't think of a single time I got a "lost connection" when my team was losing. Seems to only happen when I'm doing well. I call ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥. It's part of the reason I couldn't give two ♥♥♥♥♥ or a piss about a 5 min penalty unless I'm playing with friends or clan. If they match me with trolls against ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ dragons, well they ♥♥♥♥♥♥ up my game too. Fair is fair.

Don't get me wrong though. Some of the most INTENSE battles have been when I get to carry a bunch of less experienced players vs a relativley good team. A feeling hard to beat if you get to do it.

Less experienced is not equal to incompetent

because you should try to over come challenges not cower in fear of them.
A 4 V 5 enemy probably a variety of meta bots with one rdm platform bot. Overcome the ace of juvenile tryhards. No thank you. And if your team doesn't surrender if it more than obvious that you lost I'd leave to. Why waste your time to a lost victory. If you can do other stuff that is fun.

Yeah the point of the game is to have fun, not be forced to lose in an unfair match that isn't

True. But with every update the player base becomes more competitive and less fun. Example you make an art bot. Get destroyed in battle and your bot gets hate. Your team exists out of weird platforms that try to fight the meta enemy but it just won't work. Someone gives a surrender and 2 vote no for no obvious reason.

A good example of surrender usage.

but the vast majority of games like this still get the surrender blocked by some spiteful.

Not much massive about robocraft anymore..

Smaller teams, tiny maps and no more megabots.
