Obvious spoilers ahead for people still not done with route 0.
You can talk to get during that cafeteria scene and she will mention how her father would gamble away all their money in horse races then get home angry and beat her up. Previously she mentions (again during an optional dialogue) how her brother would never even talk to her, or anyone for that matter and instead was a loser who just shut himself in his room being edgy. Her house is/was so dysfunctional, she had nothing to fight for and still decided to help from the start, showing how she actually cares about others despite the garbage she spouts sometimes, and just hates herself.
This is further expanded on in one of the routes, we find out that she has literally no one in the TRC. Everyone in her life abused or used her in one way or another, and gave her loads of trauma.
I love the type of energy she brings to the table, but I can also see that it's just a way to mask her insecurities. I don't call her my favorite character from this game for no reason, while I do find her extremely funny, she's also a complex and multi-layered character who you just grow to love even more as you play the game
