EDIT: Verified files & restarted Steam, this time it got through the intro loading.
Were you playing on a Steam Deck? If so, many people's saves have been corrupted. Deleting your saves might let you start the game again, but depending on how far back your last 'good' save was you might lose a lot of progress.
You may want to back up files before deleting. Removing userconfig.properties in the main folder may work. Otherwise, the save games are in gamedata\savedata\#########
0000 is the autosave, and the rest are your manual saves. I've heard that erasing sysdata.bin will allow your game to start, but will corrupt all remaining saves.
