The game being barely advertised and not gaining traction is the entirely the fault of the marketing team, which seems to be more focused on the JP playerbase then the western one.
I like the game and I will be pre ordering it. But ultimately the success of it will depend on its quality and whether it will be able to cater to the intended target audience.
Child logic I swear...
Thats sadly not true either.... many games have the quality but not the success, because they stay in the dark and are crushed by other licence which can use media more easily and bad trick like hypersexual content and crap like that....
Dont think video game industry is a fair world, all the thing they put and end up in your face first is never choosed randomly...
I don't follow your logic here.
This game's target audience is Danganronpa fans and Danganronpa-adjacent games fans, and it's not going to compete with any other game in that genre in the month it's releasing.
If the game flops it may be because it's too niche
Here is to the hope that Steam themselves figure out to recommend the game to old fans.
Most Danganronpa fans are already aware of the existence of this game. So I don't think promotion with older games would make much of a difference.
However, steam can still help by putting the game as a banner on the front page of the shop I guess.
One can hope. But I've learned that most people are quietly enjoying games without even considering other people playing the same game. For example, me. I had no idea that this game existed until a few days ago.
Let's also keep in mind that Spike Chunsoft is the one who holds the rights to Danganronpa, so they don't need Kodaka's permission to make a new game.
I only found out about the game by chance due to a streamer streaming the demo.
Rain Code was published under Spike Chunsoft, so it doesn't count. TooKyoo Games was created by devs from SpikeChun to be more independent. 100 Line most likely won't have that level of support, even if they found another publisher for it, and its success/failure will determine the fate of the studio.
You made good points.
It truly is a matter of whether Kodaka's and Uchikoshis legacy is famous enough to carry this whole game.
But the lack of Spike Chunsoft's support is definitely a huge roadblock.
