Raising Salary Cap with the Assistant

Hello, was wondering how to raise the salary cap because in my current playthrough barely any teams can sign FAs for a realistic value. For example Eichel/Draisatl/Shesterkin ask for 12/11.5/10 mill, respectively. All more or less what they're worth. However, the offseason goes by and so in mid or late August I can give them multi-year contracts for pennies on the dollar, or in this case like 7 mill and 6 mill (didn't have enough for Shesterkin because my core is signed to realistic values). Anyway, this takes away from the realism of the game, so I was hoping to raise the salary cap to approx. 90 mill so other GMs/teams could sign FAs for a fair market value.

In trying to raise the salary cap, I downloaded the Assistant application and followed the steps I have found in other threads.
1. Open EHM and load a saved game
2. Open the Assistant and run it.
3. Find NHL and raise it to desired salary cap

I see how to do all this in the Assistant and have done it (as well as changed Coyotes' primary color from forest green to their real color and their rivals). However, this never takes effect in the game. While running the Assistant and changing these things, EHM is still up. So I change the desired stuff, the salary cap, for example, press enter, then go to EHM, expecting it to have taken effect, but it never does. When I go back to EHM, I click whatever buttons (home, continue, roster, etc.), and it never does anything. It stays on the inbox or wherever I was when I went back to the Assistant. It sometimes changes resolution and never lets me do anything in the game. I open Task Manager and am sometimes able to quit the game, without the effects having taken place. Other times I press the Windows key to go back to the desktop and quit the game that way. Last night, I had to sign out of my computer or else I wouldn't have been able to get out of EHM (could've restarted computer, obviously).

Does anyone else have this problem or a possible solution? Thanks in advance!

I think you have to save the edited data in ehm assistant, then load the save in EHM.

I click "Submit," or whatever, so it seems like it should save, unless there is another way.

I think the problem is that after I change the cap in the Assistant and hit submit, and try to go back to my loaded EHM game in another window, I'm unable to do anything. As mentioned, I have to force quit EHM or sign out of my PC.

When I open up EHM after all this and load my last saved game, that is without the salary cap changes because I was never able to save it in EHM, unless that's what you're referring to with saving it in the Assistant.

What kind of error? As far as I can remember, I've always been able to play. I think once I was unable to load a particular save but loaded a back-up.

There are two areas in EHM Assistant that you have to update. If you only update one, you might not see the number updated, and could run into CTD issues.
