So first of all, they already have to retcon the game for the sake of gameplay because the chainsaw lancer was not invented at the time of E-day, but you can't have a gears game with no lancer.

And this is basically a huge lore retcon, so it really wouldn't be a big step to make Dom and Marcus gay for each other or something, which quite frankly, is something gen Z gears fans might enjoy. Since nothing is known about the locust at this point and the COG have no WMDs, I wouldn't be surprised if the entire story was about how Dom and Marcus had to hide their feelings for one another and that's the real reason why Marcus didn't want to save Maria in Gears 2.

Hate to break it to you but as far as we know there is zero multiplayer.

Check the store page if you don’t believe me. They listed singleplayer & co-op but no multiplayer.

Not that Gears MP changes at all between titles. It's nothing but people Spazzing out from Cover to Cover with shotguns. I seriously don't understand the people who think that is the best part of gears games.

If it's nothing but a deep and dedicated Co-op campaign. That'd be amazing. Maybe Horde again. (Preferably a return to Gears 4's version.)

saddly stupid retcons like this are common in almost all franchises, even when there is no wokeness bein pushed. both come from the disrespect of lore material, but one is done for pleasing the ''fans'' who don't read the books nor check the lore, and the other is done for a minority or mayority of normies who do not care. as in, they will accept any entertainment even if it is a Star Trek show with lightsabers and the Force.

This actually caused me to go down this rabbit hole and discover that indeed you are correct, Epic Games is completely divested from Gears at this point and most Epic employees who moved to Coalition are gone too.

So, in actuality, Microsoft is responsible for this game. So you do realize that:

These days you have to presume all games are woke propaganda before release, because the industry is filled with bigoted racist woke cult members who hate their customers.

On these grounds alone I don't buy any new games at release. Also the prices they're now charging is laughable £70/£80 for unfinished broken trash the devs/publishers can piss off.

In lore the Mark 2 lancer (chainsaw one) never even existed until 1 A.E (1 year after e-day)

And for Marcus and Dom being gay... that's stupid, the reason Dom didn't save Maria is because she was too far gone, she suffered A LOT from the locust. Plus I've never seen anything in lore about Marcus and Dom being gay for each other...
