Tbh, I'd like to play as Crash[quake.fandom.com] in a DOOM game.
Define "woke"
Surface level explanation:
While I am pro inclusivity for any gender, sexuality, race or whatever
the approach of the big industry to implement those ideals into their media
is generally very poorly made and often in bad faith.
Wokeness became over time a somewhat vague but popular buzz-word for the
artificial and fake inclusivity and other...problems.
Introduction of inclusivity in media often lacks nuance, balance, honesty
and as well the genuine goal to bring all people together.
Generally people feel the dishonesty but often don't exactly know why it is wrong and how to express it, especially because the topic is so vague.
In recent years we got quite a few painfully obvious dishonest examples
- a "documentary" that claimed Cleopatra was black
- Black Lives Matter being revealed as a scam
- inclusivity consultancy companies like Sweet Baby Inc being openly racist
- trying to change the definition of words like the definition of "racism" being something
that only white men do against other cultures
- hiding behind failed projects and just blaming the fans for being racist
- men identifying as women just to collect all the gold medals in women sports
- turning historical and fictional characters retroactively into gay
could go on forever... but don't want to waste more time on that
To be honest this whole modern "thing"inclusivity/movement/agenda/drama/whatever" became so vague and popular that it went everywhere and nowhere and just became a waste of time for everyone.
Influencer/youtuber/streamer are farming it hard by now and making good money.
Thanks to the internet its easier for everyone to find like minded people and stay forever in their shared one dimensional bubble. I saw both sides vividly raging over the
"wrong other side" while passionately enjoying each others pp...
Maybe people are just bored or have no goals and/or meaning in life anymore...
... on both sides - and just need sth do and just go for "progress for the sake of progress".
There are more lonely people than ever and maybe need something fill the void
and hop on sth that gives them meaning.
In the beginning I wondered, it was stupid, what is all this nonsense about,
read stuff about it, watched stuff about, consumed content about,
then it became funny,
but by now
I just feel indifference.
You can definitely dig deeper
Probably the last time I ever write about this stuff.
----------------------------------------------
There are already more good games, movies and anime in the world than I could ever complete during my remaining years on earth.
But there is also still enough good stuff coming out each year that appeals to me.
Dune is great, Jujutsu Kaisen is great.
I still will spent another 500 hours on DOOM & DOOM Eternal alone.
New DOOM looks good, new GoW looks good.
Could still waste another 2000h in digital "drugs" like the game Satisfactory.
ex-Rocksteady staff formed a new studio.
A rewatch of One Piece will cost me at least another 500h
Picard Season 1+2 were bad,
but season 3 ignored the first two seasons
and gave me the perfect finale for Star Trek I always needed.
I am still drowning good stuff.
There is always something coming out that appeals to me.
Time to move on.
I doubt there is any kind of new world order master with an agenda.
It's a lot more simple.
I forgot there is also the DEI money:
investor driven subventions but with the requirement for DEI inclusivity.
So publishers like cheap money to reduce development cost, but the cheap money requirement is to hire a DEI-consultancy that makes sure there will be inclusivity.
So the problem is more like people seeing an opportunity to make easy money.
Its not like that attracts the honest to goodness people that want to make a better world,
but lazy narcissistic incompetent ruthless hacks
that want the easy money and that don't have a problem going over corpses and burning everything down and hiding behind the fake moral virtue of inclusivity.
It's kinda clever, not one wants to critique inclusivity, so they pretend to be inclusive.
There is no honesty behind this movement due to ruthless gluttony...
In the end it was always about the money.
You were on a roll until you included examples.
For clarity, I'm on your "side", if there are sides. But the fact of the matter is we cannot possibly know the absolute truth behind these examples. Any person or group of people can claim one thing or another and whoever is the loudest at that time will be the story gaining the most friction, but that does not mean a thing. To place such information here as absolute fact is a mistake, I think. Or did you meet Cleopatra yourself?
All the rest, spot on. We know there's something wrong we can't quite lay out finger on. At best we can vaguely describe it to ourselves in our minds, but that's about it. As soon as we are confronted we yell out stupid ♥♥♥♥ like "Cuz racism" or "Cuz sexism" and don't get much further due to influences of the media.
But you did a much better job explaining.
Yes
