To the new players
This game is a traditional MMORPG. So it is different from the most played MMORPGs you know nowadays: WoW, FFXIV, ESO and GW2.

The game have no focus on story, so you don't have voiced dialogues nor cutscenes. It has stories, but know it is not the focus and literally nobody talk about it. It has dungeons. But don't expect something with insane mechanics like WoW or FFXIV. Their focus is giving you crafting materials and gold.

The main focus in the game is character development. You have many decisions to make on your character, and doing this is insanely fun. We have many gear options, legendary weapons and armors (the yellow ones), each with cool and special effects, gear enhancing (+1, +2, +3, etc...), slots to open and insert gems in your gear, reputation to unlock shops who gives good buffs and stuff. Almost everything I said can be bought with in-game gold, and, as it can be obtained by many ways, you will have to option to choose what you do. And in this game we have a reason for that: PVP. Battlegrounds are basically the endgame of it, showing everyone how strong your character is.

Lastly, if you enter a battleground and find it unbalanced because someone in the other side is too strong, know you can get exactly like that guy if you farm enough. Just like Warframe, almost everything in this game can be achieved with in-game gold, so you won't find items that can only be obtained with real money.

Have fun! I played this game for 3 years in my childhood and never found another game like it. I played literally every popular MMO we have: WoW, ESO, FFXIV, GW2, Destiny 2, BDO, and many others. None of these were so fun as Grand Fantasia.

Thanks for all the information :rbrb1: I know absolutely nothing about this game but i am curious to try it out since i like MMOs. Another old traditional MMO game with focus on character development is Mabinogi, the 20 year old game is also getting an Engine upgrade in the future- Unreal Engine 5

Hmm.. Let me try and answer that question Mystic.. Um.. It starts off easy, and there's something for everyone.. Here, let me spoil a bit of the tutorial area.. For example.. You could pick the city you want to start from, at almost anytime during the practice area, but.. You could also skip it for now, do some side quests ; even one hidden quest and you could eventually fight the boss and acquire a title, that fits under your name (or over?) and shows everyone around, that you went all out to 100% complete the newbie area.. The PvE is quite easy, at the beginning.. The boss of the intro would be easy for anyone with experience in MMOs, but difficult for someone who doesn't game much.. The quests don't last forever, and eventually you'll be forced to grind.. You can pick from various spots and choose the one that you want to loot some rare items from, as the place to level up, so that you're hoping for a drop, WHILE levelling up.. Class choices are fun.. Pick a basic class and have some say in which class you'd like to upgrade to (many times).. As I said ; PvE is quite easy, for a long time.. The most noticeable difficulty, is running out of pots (forcing you to buy more) and running into world bosses accidentally.. It's a very relaxing, amusing game.. Mount system is off the charts, many ways to make your character unique, and many adventures to have.. Also, the higher you reach? The more side games unlock.. You might unlock the ability to join a PvP arena, based on your current level range and do some challenges within, to unlock a title, or other rewards.. You might find your way into a daily dungeon ; something simple that any level of players can team up, and the xp for beating it is dependant on your personal level (I think).. I'm not a hardcore player of this game? But I've probably put 100's of hours into it, since it launched around 2009.. Now, the last thing.. This will be a sort of (Classic Version) of the original game and will have MANY changes (it sounds like) so I don't know exactly what to expect, but this HUGE paragraph, should give you some idea of what it's like.. It's a full blown experience, and you should treat it as such.. Much like any other game, it starts off easy, and gets more complicated.. GL!

Thank you! And when you say grind do you mean just killing mobs in open world? I will look up gameplay video but I'm really just a sucker for coop/group content so dungeons or raids or open world pve would draw me in quick.
BattleKnight1381 Aug 2, 2024 @ 2:42am
There are group instances (dungeons) every once in awhile, which you can use to find loot, and collect gold for finishing them (really useful cause they pay good).. As for the grind? There are less quests later on, so you end up having to do other things to level ; Group Dungeons, Daily Dungeon, PvE vs random monsters, etc..

Don't forget the REP Quests to spam turn in items for quick levels XD. I remember farming for Ancient Jewelry for hours on end just to hit lvl 66 for my 4th class change into Mystic, Darkstalker, Warlord, ect.

Thanks for this information, i was thinking about if i should try this game once more, but i remember that many years ago when i was a teenager i tried to play Grand Fantasia but i didn't developed much interest so i stopped, maybe it's because of its focus on character development and i'm more interested in PVE/narrative in MMOS like World of Warcraft. :steamsad:

Sweet, so its FLYFF. Zeta flyff was the best thing to happen to steam until the usual globalist rich class suspects got greedy as always. Lets hope the developers are more skilled and less greedy. Never got to enjoy KFLYFF scale game beings Gpotato now whatever "nonessential" corporate circle jerk it claims has been trying to farm its loyalist for cash shop over the last 20 years. Make content this mapping is archaic and should be generate-able by AI.

so there is no PVE end game activities that are any fun like raids?

From what I remember there are world bosses, guild bosses, dungeons but I don't remember if there were any raids. It also often had events and a lot of collectables that could be earned.

So you said that many in-game items can be bought with gold but i'm hearing a lot of unsatisfied players coming back because of the cash shop and other pay to win functions.

Thats cuz is only half-truth! You CAN actually buy almost everything with gold but what the OP omitted is that it will take months to have enough gold to buy some of this items. And no, you CAN'T get exactly like the whales you see in battleground just farming "enough" thats bullsh*t.
