Can't enable any mods

I am subscribed to several mods, but when I click to run the game, none of them pop up on the right side of the screen under 'enabled mods' and they don't appear in-game either

Over in Wrestling Empire's forum, a forum user found a fix for mods not showing up in his copy of Empire:

"DO YOU WANNA KNOW HOW I FIXED IT?
i went to the mod folder, not the workshop, the mod folder when you click on bottom right of the options > Go open the mod folder> DELETE everything in that folder.

that fixed it.

just one problem sadly... it kinda screws up character design n such ... "
