I cant get my controller to work in this game, it works in old school, but not hard time 3.

Press C in the main menu and click Refresh a few times, your controller should show up and start working

I just turned off Steam input and it works by default.

I try to run this game with my xbox controller and every time I press "Play" it crashes my game, any idea why?

it did to me first too. make sure to press C on the main menu and refresh to fix it.
