This is what I did to get game working
I'm running Windows 8 x64, game wouldn't start just crash, basically following the link from here and installing GFWL (ugh!) fixed it edit: you have to open games for windows marketplace and keep it running when starting toy story 3 or else it'll go back to crashing

Try installing Directx 9c: http://www.microsoft.com/en-us/download/confirmation.aspx?id=34429

This seems to fix the issue.

Running it with GFWL Marketplace open worked for me. Thanks!

This worked for me too.
Everytime I launched the game it just opened a black screen and crashed.
I set the compatibility mode for Windows Vista (I'm running Windows 10)
Opened up Games for Windows Live and let it run in the backgroung.
Game started right up without issue.

I solved this problem disabling unused audio hardwares (right click on audio icon on the windows taskbar, play devices) and setting the general audio quality of Windows to CD Quality (16 bit, 44100Hz), same as the other user do to solve similar problem in Disney Pirates of Caribean (see this link: http://steamcommunity.com/app/300820/discussions/ ). Working fine now!!!!!!! :)
