Toy story 3 crash and resolution fix

It´s hard to believe how often a pirated version works much better than the payed version (no wonder why piracy thrives).
Anyway, get two files from the RELOADED version of pirated Toy story: Game-TS3.exe and rld.dll, and put them in your Steam game folder (replace). You can get them from http://♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥.com/games/pc_toy_story_3.shtml#Toy Story 3 v1.0 [MULTI4-1/MULTI6] No-DVD/Fixed EXE.

Resolution fix: to get the 1980x1024 option in the game, open Game-TS3.exe with an hex editor and replace the string "80 02 00 00 E0 01" by "80 07 00 00 38 04". This will only work with the pirated version (if you do it with the steam version the game will crash).

I certainly hope we don't get in any trouble for this, given the fact that the problem has been going on for well over a year, readin gthe comments, yet Steam has not worked to fix it.

Hi, the no dvd fix allows the game to work for 10mins and crashes after ( close down message). This doesnt seem to fix the problem, only delay it.
The strange thing is that this game works some day and other days it doesnt via the steam version without patches.ie friday it work, saturday stopped working and sunday working again. Now stopped. And nothing has been installed during that time.
No idea how to fix this...

Hi again, there has been a graphic card update today (Nvidia geforce experience) for my GTX970 and games is working again with no patches just via steam. Hope this help...

But, can you change the resolution?
I think your crashes werecaused by internal software issues of your PC, that´s why updating the card solved it.

It hasn`t solved anything. After updating the graphic card the game worked but i also closed the game but not shut the computer down and the next time i ran it, it wouldnt work with the same close down message as before. After rebooting the computer 3-4 times it has started to work again.

Hope it continues to work for you., but it still is a bad port. Youtube a video of the PS3 version and look at the water and menu's in the free roaming part. Now playing it on Xbox one and works perfectly everytime.

Go to the game location and eliminate the D3DX9_40.dll file, its work for me

I solved this problem disabling unused audio hardwares (right click on audio icon on the windows taskbar, play devices) and setting the general audio quality of Windows to CD Quality (16 bit, 44100Hz), same as the other user do to solve similar problem in Disney Pirates of Caribean (see this link: http://steamcommunity.com/app/300820/discussions/ ). Working fine now!!!!!!! :)

I CANNOT believe it.. but this simple solution 100% worked!!! I tried it merely as a goof and it worked 100%

Before trying this, the game would crash every single time before it would ever load.... once I deleted and/or renamed the file, the game loads up with no problems.

If anybody wants to try this, just RENAME the file "D3DX9_40.dll" to something else.. You can always rename it back if this solution doesn't work for ... this way you don't have to be worried about deleting files by accident.

I got it to work with the pirated .exe and removing the D3Dx9_40.dll, but after a while (when we got to the basement part of the second level) the camera was all wonky, and the characters got stuck in whatever action you did (jumping indefinitely, or smashing indefinitely). Unplayable :(
