The story of both games is kinda meh so i cannot give or deduct points on either one on that one.
The lack of ability to go beyond the wall, the lack of vertical traversal paths absent glider suxx too.
This DLC should change many of point i dont like because it will be darker, nice world theme, weapons looks normal and i hope tokens will be gone.
Last time i played march 7. 2024.
I bought ultimate preorder so now im finally happy to getting things i paid for, this DLC should be rdy 2023.
Everything, EVERYTHING lacks impact and weight, and you notice that right from the get-go with JUMPING and combat.
I want to jump, and not float like a balloon. And you know I ain't talking about jump length/height. It's SPEED, it's ACCELERATION and much more than that. You need to feel the GRAVITY.
Oh, and tons of forced "so wacky" NPCs that were probably written with Borderlands in mind.
DL2 feels like DL1 with all the aspects that made it really stand out ripped from the game. It doesn't build much onto the original formula, as it instead just strips it and locks it behind the skill-tree which is much smaller than DL1s.
1 -
Your character unlike crane does not start out mediocre at parkour, so there is no feeling of growth in the game. You just unlock skills which allow you to use new moves, but it never feels like you're getting better, just arbitrary skill locks.
2 -
The story is not much better than DL1, in fact it worse in that the plot feels like it was written by a middle schooler who decided a generic villain will make their hero look cool. When in reality, generic heroes and villains are boring. You have a few interesting side characters, but the player agency when it comes to the factions just feels like they just took the outpost mechanic form assassins creed revelations and threw it into dying light.
3 -
Rather than remove the weapon breaking problem, they made it worse by making it so you can not repair weapons. The only way weapons regain durability is when you apply your mods to them. Thus... you get even less use out of your weapons than dying light one.
4 -
Most of what you think the game is going to be is just the marketing of the game, when in reality tech-land decided to go the CDPR route and spend more time trying to hype their game than actually improve it. Thus if you had high hopes for DL2, be prepared to lower your expectations and feel lied to.
5 -
It feels like for every new mechanic they took out an old one. Instead of air drops we have the injections, instead of lairs we have dark zones, and instead of guns, shields, and throwing weapons we have.... well nothing cool to replace them.

Agreed, the story of the Dying Light games has never been strong. Which is a shame, but I would say in either case DL2 did everything, even the story, worse.
The game honestly doesn't look that different from Dying Light 2 if you play it now. They added guns in Dying Light 2 but it was too little too late. Ammo is too hard to find in comparison to 1. They have had many patches that have improved the game overall including the gore. I'm not saying the game is a 10/10 it's more like a 7/10 being upgraded to an 8/10.
I would also agree with people that Dying Light 1 was better as I would rate that a 9/10.
I just look at the comments and I'm like, no wonder they didn't make this game as a DLC for Dying Light 2. People will not give this game another chance no matter how much support and patches they do to improve it over the years. The Dying Light 2 franchise is tainted in the view of many gamers, most people won't give it another shot, but they will give a new title a shot.
Dying Light blew my mind when it first came out and compared to this games release it was much better. For example: When Dying Light 2 released when you cut off a limb from a zombie they just died, the game didn't have guns, plus a number of other issues.
I think the patch this month perfected this game, it's still inferior to Dying Light 1. But, I think in a much, much better place than release or even a few months ago.
They've added over a dozen new enemy types, changed the threat levels of day and night cycles, when you chop off an enemies arm they don't die and they can continue to attack you. ETC.
It's not a perfect game now, but I think if you haven't played in several months or years you should at least give this game one more shot.
When there is rotten core, no additional fluff around will help.
They completely borked the number game. Dl1 was made to be fun. Dl2 was made to be played for hundreds oh hours showing investors "see? seeeeee these numbers? Gib us money". Despite having not that much interesting content.
Some of your points are still valid, but some of them are outdated and wrong....such as weapon repair (which you can do now), and guns (which the game has now).
