I sat and practiced doubles and banks for a while and I got better at it. I make maybe 30% of them now. More on a good day.
What I would like though is an option to "walk around" the table while the opponent is playing while still being able to see the shots 1st person if I want to.
The option to walk around the table is available. Just hit [D] to stand up and move around as normal.

an option to "walk around" the table while the OPPONENT is playing.
We are locked into 1st person while the opponent is playing. Walk around is only available when I'M at the table.
So you're Tommy from Pinball Wizard? I don't see (pun intended) how practicing blind shots can improve your odds of making these shots. I realize you can stand up and look at the table, but that doesn't really correllate to when you are in your shooting stance. When playing in real life, you are able to turn your head, why not in this game as well?
The combination of walking around and 1st person often gives me enough information to get close with banks and doubles. It just takes some practice and I recommend you try. I couldn't do it at all until I practiced for a while.
In fact, sometimes the game lines me up perfectly for long bank shots when I'm on the last ball and there's no clear pot.. I'd suggest just messing about with it and see what works for you. They're definately not impossible! It's a matter of practice and familiarity - with both the perspective and the cushions because the balls will straighten up if the potting angle is over 180 degrees but play true if it's under. Like some cushions in real life. Sorry if that's not clear. It's hard to explain. Try just in free play and pot as many as you can with bank shots. I bet you'll improve.
In my experience in real life, getting height over the bank shot helps a lot. I use that quite a lot in the game. I look from as high as I can in 1st person and walking to get a good vertical view.
I'm not great at it by any definition but I'm getting better. Love the Tommy reference btw :D
