Does this have UK pool rules?
From the screenshots, this looks like a no. If this has UK pool (Just red and yellow balls) I'd buy this in a heartbeat. I'm so fed up of the Pool Nation devs saying they'd add this (which looks like they've just given up on that idea completly).

If not, are there any good UK pool games for the PC?

Damn. If you'll ever seen that episode of the I.T Crowd where the smokers are shunned and are forced to march further and further away from the company building, we that's how I feel as a U.K PC Pool game player.

Thanks anyways.

Edit: Oh God I just looked at the trailer, Virtual Pool 4 looks like everything pool nation SHOULD have been.

U.K Pool is almost a totally different game. The rules are VERY different.

If you like American pool fair play to you, but for me I just don't like the way the final ball can be potted at any time to win the game. In U.K rules, if you are the red colour/color then you HAVE to pot all the red balls before you can pot the final (black ball) and win the game.

It just seems like more of a challenge than U.S pool to me.

I sure don't mind and thanks for the vid.any more resources video, game or tutorial wise would be cool as well.thanks for the vid as well as the site concerning the rules.

International Snooker here on Steam has UK 8 Ball Pool but you need to unlock it by doing the Snooker Championships. In terms of gameplay, it's okay but the size of the table for pool on it is a bit small. I for one would also love to see this game get UK 8 ball rules as an addition, even paid DLC would be fine with me.

I can't get Virtual Pool 4 to work on anything but online since that last update.

Which is rather unfortunate for me, considering I only paid for it to play solo offline in bored moments between RPG sessions :/

Thanks, another one for the wishlist.

The only rule that seems very different is how the cue ball is treated when a foul is commited i.e. in UK pool you get an extra shot but the ball must be placed being the baulk line rather than anywhere. I'm only a casual pool player, but the two varients seem very similiar to me otherwise.

They are, but although the World Eight Ball Pool Federation Rules have been adopted as the 'official' ones, most amateur players still play according to older rule-sets which vary more widely from the US game, not least in the 'hit cushion' requirement the guy brought up in another thread. With pool being very much the 'pub game' here, rather than a sport (that's snooker), for most casual and many ladder players 'the' rules are those taped on the wall at the pub, even if they've been there 20 years.

What's very different from U.S pool to U.K is, in U.S pool on your first shot you could knock the que ball off your first ball and pot the nine ball and win in one shot. In U.K pool you automatically lose the game if this happens. U.K forces you to play the whole game through, you have to pot all of your balls before you can play a winning shot. There is less luck involved.

I don't know what Pure Pool is like but on Pool Nation this is so easy to do, it's stupid. I can pot the nine ball in a couple of shots most times.

According to the rules in this game; potting the 8 ball prematurely in "US 8-Ball" is also a game loss, just like the UK pool variation. In 9-ball pool on the other hand, the 9-ball can be pocketed prematurely to win the game.

Don't get me wrong I'm all for additional game modes even if they are similiar, but both US 8-ball and UK 8-ball pool seem like practically the same game with the exception of the advantage the other player is given when a foul is commited.

The one thing I do find strange about the game is that Ive always played US 8-ball games where the 8-ball should have a pocket called and if the ball lands in any other pocket it's a foul or loss, but that isn't a rule here.

But on that note I think rule customisation would be a really cool feature to have in the game.

What ever the rules, I don't see why the devs of these games seem to imply they are super hard to implement. Again I can't comment on this game, but the devs in Pool Nation reckoned it was super hard (to the point of giving up on it......to go and develop their game for other systems I might add).

Hi McShave07, I can confirm we are planning on adding a UK Black Ball mode. The rules have been coded in already by Voofoo's new superstar coder, and we'll be patching this in along with various bug fixes and enhancements very soon (and I'm talking weeks not months here).

Me too. I'm a big pool fan and I'll buy this once UK rules are in and online play works.
