Different Trial Run bug
This was reported elsewhere in the other Trial Run discussion thread, but I thought it might be worth it to post a new thread in case the report gets buried there.

It seems like if you kill James instead of the Elf, then you can't exit the building. As the person who first reported this said, the yellow button becomes unresponsive.

I'm guessing you've tried the window fire-escape exit and that is not working as well?
Waikiki Jan 4, 2015 @ 1:13am
Checking it out at the moment, thanks for the info.

It is working, thanks a lot. You can avoid the bug by using the fire exit in room 301 on the 1st floor. You either get the code from the worried employe on ground level after buying the drug from the dealer outside the building or in case you don't want to restart it once again it's 53786.

Pfff, same here... no way I am going to go through this level again... :/ It is so boring for the fifth time...

There is a solution on this thread:

http://steamcommunity.com/app/300550/discussions/0/620700960299613047/

Basically you buy drugs for the Orc in the lobby (from a woman outside the buliding, to the north east), and he gives you his room number (for room 301). You can use the fire escape from there after you kill that wanker James. I exited in combat mode, but it should work if you kill all the gurads as well.
Thank you for reporting this issue, our Testers are looking into this issue in an attempt to reproduce this issue and isolate the cause. However as this level has many moving parts and can be played in a number of different ways, if you could write down all steps that you took in this level, or answer the following questions this will help speed up the investigation process.

Warning the following questions may contain spoilers to mission content.
Did you purchase any Drugs from the waitress outside?
Did you give the stressed Orc Jolt for access to his room?
Did you fight the guards on the first floor?
Did you kill one or more of the Guards with the Electro panel?
What other actions did you take on the first floor?
When you entered the second floor where was your first fight?
What conversation path did you follow when placing the canister in apartment 303?
How did you attempt to leave the second floor?
What exit were you unable to use?

Edit:
I have merged another thread with this one as it is talking about the same issue.

1) No.
2) No.
3) No. Unless you mean one in 4)
4) Yes. Only one was standing there, only one died.
5) Talked to the parents, bought the cyberware.
6) Inside room 303.
7) I made every attempt to talk James down from doing anything stupid. He attacked the guy who hits the panic button. I did everything I could to stop the elf but he attacked us. I killed him. We left James alive.
8) I tried both exits, but I couldn't get James to even enter the penthouse. After killing all the guards on the second floor who came after the alarm, I tried to exit at the fire escape and they had a conversation where James sulks and Jana and player character tell him to shut up and that even though we need him to finish the mission he might be doing it without his tongue, or whatever.
9) Neither and the penthouse won't open either.

Can someone give me the code for the penthouse room where James is supposed to go? Maybe that will fix mine?

Also isn't there anything we can do in the mean time with the debug console (Alt+F1)? Like if we don't care about the story and just want to force the exit and get to the end of mission, can we?
@dev

Here are two snippets of information that the debug overlay displays.

The SceneVars tab appears to tell all the information you are asking from those questions.

The red markings I put on it are just to show that I scrolled to the bottom to show more of the values. I cut and pasted the remaining ones to the bottom. That list is complete as far as what is being shown under SceneVars on my end.

There's also some red text at the top of the screen that is spitting out something that looks like errors in the code. If you can't read the text click the image to enlarge it, they are showing a shrunk thumbnail for some reason.

7) I tried to talk James down but ended up killing James and keeping the elf alive. I killed most of the guards but was able to exit the level to 1 where I killed the 3 guards but the exit was inactive
8) I used the same elevator I entered level 2
9) I only used the elevator mentioned in 8.
Thank you very much everyone! Thanks to your feedback our Testers have been able to pin down this issue and it has been logged in our bug tracking software to be looked at by a member of our Design team. Below there is a breakdown of what is causing the issue, and how to workaround it, or avoid it from occurring. Warning all text will contain some degree of spoilers, especially the avoiding it section as it will list all the other ways to play through this level.

Please let us know if you encountered this issue in a different state than the listed cause, or if you are unable to workaround or avoid this issue.

The cause:
Sneaking up to the second floor via killing a single guard with the electric-box then choosing to scrub the mission and kill James in the conversation in room 303.

The workaround: (requires cheats)
1) Enter into Debug Move via "ctrl"+"f1" or "alt"+"~"
2) Open the "Draw" menu, then select "Fog" (This will turn off the Fog of War completely, allowing you to see all areas of the map.)
3) Press "Ctrl"+M" (This breaks the zoom levels and allows the camera to pan outside of the current camera region, this is necessary to get outside again.)
4) Once both the FoW is off and the Zoom constraints are broken you can scroll to zoom out as far as possible. (This will allow you to see in game how we build out levels and divide up the different areas.)
5) Pan the camera around until the outside is located.
6) Open the "Cheat" menu, then press "Warp", or press "Ctrl"+"W" (This allows your selected actor to walk to any tile selected in a straight line regardless of walls or other pathing issues.)
7) Select a tile that is near the entrance of the Trial Run mission, or near the U-Bahn entrance.
8) Once your character has stopped walking interact with the transition icon on the entrance to the U-Bahn
9) Repeat steps 6-8 until all alive actors have transitioned to the U-Bahn station. (This step is not required if you are in freemove when the first actor moves to the U-Bahn)

Paths that will not encounter this, or ways to avoid this issue:
First floor actions that will prevent this issue.
1) Sneak through the first level killing both guards with the electric-box and turning off the alarm.
2) Choose to kill all guards in combat on the first floor, triggering the alarm.

Second floor choices that will avoid this issue:
1) Do not scrub the Mission and kill James in the conversation in room 303

Second floor exits that allow the Player to avoid this issue.
1) Exiting through the fire exit in room 301
2) Exiting through the utility hatch in the Matrix control room.

Thanks for the info, but mine involved James being alive. I never killed him. I think there is more to it than just scrubbing the mission or trying to kill him. I saved him and did not scrub the mission. I tried to get him to not shoot the elf but I never aggro'd him or killed him. We killed the elf together.

Anyways, the problem is not that I can't just exit, it's also that I can never get him (James) to go into the room where the cameras are supposed to be planted. The door into that room will not open and no code will work on it. So I cannot get inside either. Yet, both exits are marked yellow as if objectives are complete and I can leave, and, there is also the objective of going through the room to plant the cameras that is marked yellow. The mission sits in a state of all objectives being complete while not being complete.

I did find a workaround though. I had to use the warp command in debug to warp through the door. Then I warped back through and it finally allowed me to use an exit, go back to town, and finish the mission.

So I beat the mission this way, but now every time I open the console there is some scary red debug text about exceptions, et al. that I can't get to go away and I don't know if doing it the way I did opened up any kind of can of worms with the game's code. Similar to in the Elder Scrolls and some other games where using console commands to fix quests can sometimes have unforeseen consequences later in the game.

I will post more screens if need be but can you tell me what this red debug text is trying to tell me and if I should worry about it?

Thanks for working hard on it devs :D hoping i can move on now!

I found this bug too, i couldn't left the building. I had to get out using the dev advice. I hope that this part of the game will be fixed in a future upgrade.

Can this be fixed? It's completely turned me off of playing the game. I don't want to cheat out and I am already sick of remaking my chars for a while. I have no desire to skip it or learn how to use the mod tools. I just want to kill James and be able to sucesfully finish the quest.

That's how I felt too. Honestly, no, there's probably nothing you can do to fix it besides restarting the level or loading an earlier save and hoping it doesn't ♥♥♥♥ up. Or, if you had the same bug I had which no one else seems to be reporting in here, or caring about, you could use a quick cheat. I used the console to warp through the wall which didn't turn out to be all that bad. But it definitely turned me off the game spending a couple hours trying to figure out a solution and I really wanted to just quit. Just to be clear, warping through the wall won't be of any help if you're fully at the end of the quest and it literally just won't let you leave. The warp is only a quick fix if it's not letting you into the second room you need to plant the devices in.

If you can fix it with the warp command, and that's definitely a big if, I'd do it. It was a bitter experience and I'm not sure how I feel about the game as a whole yet but I have played something like 40 hours of it and I don't regret anything. But really, the warp is a very simple cheat, and you're far enough into the game that quitting now would probably be an even bigger bummer than using this fix, again assuming it applies to your glitch. It doesn't actually skip any dialog or mess with the story in any way. It's also hardly a cheat because it doesn't make anything easier for you. It also doesn't take any specialized knowledge of the game's debug console. You don't have to type in any commands. You just hit alt+F1 to turn the console on, go under cheat, click warp (I've called it warp this whole time; pretty sure that's what it's called in the console), and click the spot on the map. The one you're looking for should be an instant point and click one, not the one that requires you to put in map coordinates.
