Gearing out your party?
I don't know how long I've got left in the game, but I'm only 1 more mission away from completeing the $50,000 step and I don't know if you can do anything with your party's gear or spells. At this point they're starting to feel a lot less useful than my character.

Is there a way to change out gear and spells?

You can buy additional weapons and/or spells and loan them to your teammates by equipping them on the loadout screen before your next run. Just click the free slot, or item you wish to replace, and then click the item to replace it. However, I'm not sure how much this will help as your teammates equipment scales up as you progress thru the game so replacement weapons aren't likely to be much, if any, better statwise than what they already equip. The exception is Dietrich who's spell loadout can be modified quite a bit to change his contribution to the team.

I'll try that, I don't know that stats of my teammates' weapons, but in combat they seem to do considerably less damage than my main character with the best automatic and sniper rifle I can find. Glory and the Decker (can't remember his name) struggle to put up damage against enemies, even with crits and flank shots. My character can easily two shot some enemies with crits.

You're using Glory as a melee fighter, right? That's her strength, her claw attacks knock people out of cover, cause bleeding damage, do additional stun damage (-AP) on crits and can damage/break armour. Her pistol pales in comparison. As for Blitz, people really dislike him for a few reasons. This is one of them. The attack that flushes people from cover is your best opening attack for him but the SMG just has problems against heavily armoured enemies in general so it's no surprise you're doing more damage with your rifles.

I can try Glory as a melee attacker, problem is I've invested upgrade points into her pistol

I wouldn't recommend it. Companions upgrade their own equipment/spells throughout the game. You can also upgrade their equipment with unique items through the leveling system. In my own experience, I was left with 200 credits after purchasing everything for my character for the final run. So, I'd say you can use the money more than the NPCs.

Blitz turns out to be a pretty solid hand with a smartlinked shotgun, BTW. Not that I thought he did all that badly with his SMG -- these things are usually just a matter of finding the right range and positioning -- but I just finished a playthrough where I gave him a Mossberg as a backup weapon to his SMG and it markedly improved his offensive power. (Also, Glory's still a solid killer close in even if you invest in her pistol; and at later stages her pistol work can get a lot more valuable, especially if you get her a Ruger Super-Warhawk.)
