Shadowrun Returns?
Does it make sense to start with Shadowrun: Returns? Think I read sth like Dragonfall is the second part.
Or doesn´t it matter?

nope, two different storylines. not connected at all really, though some of the characters from "returns" are also in "dragonfall", they aren't relevant to the main story.

frankly, if you only have time to play one, I found dragonfall to be far superior to returns.

Thanks for that. :)

I love them both and some say you should play the first one so you don't miss out on the perks in Dragonfall.

I say get Dragonfall DC, the much better one and if you love it so much you can always try out the original story after.

They are stand alone stories so not missing out story wise.

To be more specific, there is ONE mention of DMS in Dragonfall, and it's a BBS post with some guy going "yo Seattle's a city, right? Some stuff going on."

In fact, you may end up slightly more confused if you play both...especially once you see who's running the talismonger store.

he moves about cause magic
I played 2 hours Dragonfall and am totally confused :D. There is almost nothing explained what is going on... at some point i needed to think 5min before giving an answer to someone because I dont understand the content. A synchronisation would be completly kickass because the atmosphere is surely fantastic...I hope the game is getting more stategic so far... am playing meele with my main and actually rushing everything with everyone seems the best tactic yet.

MoarOo, content wise here is a link to the offical Shadowrun Primer. http://harebrained-schemes.com/shadowrun/primer/ it is long but you can pick an area you don't quiet understand.

I know alot about cyberpunk but didn't know much about shadowrun, they have made up alot of words that are sometimes not so obvious even with context. Here is a link I just found to a Shadowrun dictionary of sorts http://www.intercom.net/user/logan1/glossary.htm

They're not "made up". Basically everything non-magical from Shadowrun is pulled from classic cyberpunk. Neuromancer, Snow Cash, Cyberpunk 2020, Heavy Weather, the Ware trilogy, all of those are sources of inspiration for Shadowrun.

and in those books they made those words up..... or took existing words and gave them new meanings which now exist in the Shadowrun universe. In Neuromancer Gibson created things such as cyberspace, matrix, and the deck. HE gave meaning to those words "made up".

So why don't you just go frag off ya gonk! :trazz:

" actually rushing everything with everyone seems the best tactic yet."

depends. most of the time, you are facing average enemies with guns. rushing is indeed a very successful strategy, especially if you already have the close combat defense bonus.

OTOH, rushing heavy melee is not a good idea, when you can sit back and damage them without any chance of retaliation.

That's not any different from when words are made up for any other new era or new technology, then.

Also, plenty of words created for science fiction have found their way into real-world use and application, especially from cyberpunk. Even something as basic as the word "robot", that originally showed up in science fiction stories, based on the Czech word robotnik, which means "slave".

Now you are just going on for no reason in this thread... I never said or disputed any of this.
The point was many average people would not be able to figure out what a Renraku systems cyber deck is, hence I linked him a Shadowrun/cyberpunk dictionary.

lots of language is made up in the Shadowrun universe, just as many books of dystopian futures do. (this is fact)
End of story

I believe the Czech word is "dělník" and "robotnik" is actually a Polish word which means just a worker.
