Basically Aztecnology were looking into a way to cast spells on people at a great distance by channelling it through blood relations. They cast Avada Kedavra through your Uncle Reggie and it zaps your upstart son Billy.
Blitz's mission basically involved him trying to pay off a debt to a charming fellow called Meat Grinder by breaking into the vault of an enemy gang, located inside a disused bank vauly. MG sends along his accountant to keep an eye on you and provide fire support. There turns out tot be a few layers of double crossing involved and a decking battle with the rival gang leader in the matrix.
Blitz's mission is quite good… and for some people/builds really difficult :)
THAT's all Frau Muller was afraid of? What the prisoners were talking about makes more sense now though. I guess it's a pretty powerful ability, but it seems pretty standard stuff for blood magic. Then again, I never played the P&P games, so my only major knowledge of Aztechnology comes from the Dragon Heart Saga books where they attempt one of the most "evil" things possible in the Shadowrun universe.
Despite the numerous bugs that persist in this version of the game, I was pleased at how much "color" the new side missions add. Blitz's mission actually sounds kinda interesting, so I guess I'll have to look forward to it whenever my next playthrough is. Maybe I'll knock the difficulty down since Blitz kinda sucks at both decking and marksmanship though...
Anyways, thanks again; much appreciated.
Yes, thats all.
And no, it is not standard stuff. For magic, including blood magic, to affect things beyond line of sight a ritual link, meaning a part of the targets body like hair, some blood, etc. is required.
With this research though it would be possible to use a relative of the target for that, meaning a lot on innocent people are now in the line of fire because they can be used to hurt/kill their relatives.
For someone who grew up seeing blood sacrifices, Muller made it sound like Bloodlines was something on the level of merging metaphysical planes (e.g. Dragon Heart Saga). It's a powerful ability, to be sure, and it certainly needed to be stopped, but somehow I expected more. I guess it's like Glory said: "Then again, nothing surprises me anymore." -- at least when it comes to my expectations of Aztechnology.
The end of the world?! ... oh, it's just Aztechnology.
But like I said, I didn't actually read the research in game, so maybe there's some detail that makes this more sinister than it's been described to me.
You seem to know your Shadowrun Lore much better than I so you'd probably have a better shot at it if you took a gander yourself.
