Talking down Vauclair
Does anyone know the EXACT steps required to talk down Vauclair? I have been trying for a while now, and I have not been able to get it to happen. I have gotten an intelligence check, a biotech check and two academic checks, but still he won't back down. If anyone can give me the step-by-step choices required, I would really appreciate it.

Warning for anyone looking this up in the future: it seems you can't talk down Vauclair without either the Academic etiquette or Absinthe's information. I play a very charisma-heavy character, but Academic was one of the two etiquettes I didn't have during the final mission. I also play a decker, which means no willpower to get the information from Absinthe.

Even having watched all the DVDs, passing the intelligence and biotech checks, and doing the brother dialogue last, I couldn't talk down Vauclair. :steamsad:

@obskyr you can get the dialouge out of absinthe anyway you will also need a high level of biotech or you will need to have glory along she can get the info you need from the terminals

From what I can gather you need to get a certain number of "points" to talk him down, and the following actions can give you points:

- I can't remember the details, but there are three skill checks you can make that each grant a point. The first needs Biotech 5, the second needs Intelligence 6, and the last one needs the Academic Etiquette.

- Reading the logs found in one of the computers in the manor describes several lab accidents that occured while developing the plan, and you can call him out on his lax safety measures (you need a Decker to unlock the computer.)

- If you've done all of Absinthe's (the assistant at the Magic Shop) conversations she tells you about the Horrors, which you can then tell Vauclair about.

- If you've watched all the DVDs you can tell him this isn't what his brother would've wanted (90% sure that in order to get the "point" from this it has to be the last argument you use.)

You seem to need about 3 "points" to talk him down. Basically don't resort to personal insults and calmly point out all of the holes in his plan.
its a shame ther is no real reward for talking him down...

sure, its one of the most epic and brilliantly written dialouges i have ever read but you still have to fight everyone in the end with no real relief...
