Performance Issues
I was quite excited for all of the new features included in the Director's Cut, and downloaded it as soon as it was released. You can therefore imagine my disappointment when I realised that the DC had caused my performance to plummet. Everything seems to have become sluggish, particularly the pan option when you move your cursor to the edge of the screen. Compare this to the way the game ran before I installed the DC, and it feels as though I've gone from a wonderfully smooth and sleek experience to swimming in a pool of treacle.

I'd like to lay the blame at the door of the post-processing option, but the performance is still fairly terrible even when it's disabled. This lag especially aggravating given that my rig should be more than capable of handling any improvements made to the game. I'd appreciate a future patch that adds a few more graphics options, such as the choice to turn off the god awful film grain, and one that attempts to get the performance to return to what it used to be.

Am I the only one who's found this to be the case?

If anything, it runs surprisingly smoother than the DLC did for me when I play it on my older system...

Since the DLC worked better for you, perhaps report it as a bug and see if HBS can spot something in the logs that might be impacting your systems performance?

Also, try running it in windowed mode and see if you have the same issue...

This is the same case for me. I'm running on options that I didn't with the original Dragonfall.

Hmm, that is quite strange. I just checked the original campaign, and it definitely feels more responsive and fluid. I'm glad that the performance has improved for you, but might I ask what graphical settings you're using?

I've tried it in windowed mode and the problem persisted.

Interesting. For me it works better than SRR and Dragonfall DLC ever did.

The setting I use on the old PC when my game PC is otherwise tasked, (built in 2007, Core2Duo @ 2.66 w/2GB RAM, 1600x1200 runs the game well except for longer load times) are in the screenshot here:

If I were to have performance problems, it would be on that PC.

I'm using a GTX 780M, with 8 GB RAM and an i7 4700MQ @ 2.40 GHz, which I believe should blow this game out of the water. It's running at the native resolution, 1920x1080, with post-processing turned off and AA at 2, and it's still a very jerky experience.

Have you confirmed that you're actually using the dedicated GPU and not the integrated graphics?

I have, right from the start.

Are you SURE you're running on the dedicated GPU? I'm on a laptop with an I5 @ 2.4Ghz and an Nvidia 540M GPU and the game runs smooth with everything turned up to high at 1366x768 (native resolution.)

Quite sure :)

Huh, just setup my system with the settings you gave and it works VERY smooth and great. I have a laptop too, with an i7 3630QM 2.4/3/4 Ghz cpu, Nvidia GT650M and 8gig memory and it works with every turned up highest at 1400x900 (have it hocked up to my old flatscreen monitor), but I have no doubt it would work just as fine on my laptops 1600x900 resolution just as well.
If you are experiencing any performance issues you may want to check if you have the HD textures option selected as this may be causing the performance issues on some computers. If turning off this option does not resolve your issue please contact our support staff at info@hbs-studios.com and provide as much information as you can on the computer you are using, as well as a description of the issue you are facing.
