You do get slightly more karma for killing him without knowing if he deserves it (no good explaination for that), but you don't get punished too hard for any of your choices.
You can do one of four things to deal with Thorvald.
If you kill Thorvald in the jail cell, you get the money, a "referral" that doesn't go very far, and Eiger's approval. You also get 8 karma.
If you you have the Shadowrunner eti, you can kill him as soon as the goons start talking and get 1 karma (plus the 8 karma from getting back alive). You'll still get the money from Fuchs, and even if he isn't very happy, it doesn't really affect anything at all. Dr. Ezkibel mentions it if you force him to keep feeding the sewer mutants, but not if you pay him.
If you kill the goons, you get the money and the taser (and your team's thorough disapproval, if you care) if you let him live. If you kill him with the Auto Surgeon, you still get the loot, and your team is less pissed at you. You still get 8 karma at the end of the mission.
Thats what I wanted to know thanks. I sorta figured there was a blanket reputation system that will effect all NPC is at the bazar. Prices go up because I don't have any honor or someting like that.
Its funny though cause I had Elgar, Deitrich and Blitz on my team and it seemed like the majority wanted me to spare him. Deitrich clearly had an opinion and Blitz was atleasted intreased in hearing him out. So that brings in another question, if I don't kill him outright do I lose repect with all the members or just Elgar who was against breaking protocol from the start? If anything my rep with Deitrich shouldn't take a hit considering I pretty much did what he wanted me to. Not kill and then kill when there was a clear reason.
Also how do you do the text blackout?
Ah crap nevermind, I just found it after I posted. lol.
Glory and Dietrich, on the other hand (I didn't take Blitz with me since I was playing a decker already), will have misgivings if you kill him right away, but they'll give you the nod if you kill him once it becomes clear that Thorvald is the dwarven John Wayne Gacy (minus the creepy clown makeup).
No one is happy if you let him live--even Amsel chews you out if you do.
First: Why is everyone surprised that the rigger is a runner? Thought that was obvious as it's described as a "team that botched a job infiltrating a pharma lab"
Second: Why is Fuchs insistent on killing him? He doesn't want to be ratted out by him, but just rescuing the rigger would have the same effect and would be less of a moral dilemma for other runners (everyone might have real bad luck sometimes and botch a job). Thats why i nearly didn't accept the job at all.
Third: I planned on rescuing him, realized he was a real ♥♥♥♥ and then wanted to take his money and kill him. When the goons show up that was no longer possible without smothering my reputation, so i decided to kill the goons, take his money then kill him. So no one would be left alive to tell anyone of my decisions, teams reputation would be nice and shiny. Instead everyone tells me our reputation went to hell and "hope the damn trinket was worth it". wtf?
Not very well thought out. The other jobs however are really nice!
