Thoughts on the bloodline data *spoilers*

What are peoples thoughts on what to do with the data you can get from the bloodlines mission? AFAIK there are three options:

1) Delete the data.
2) Sell the data
3) Give the data to Schockwellenreiter to freely distribute

At a glance the first seems to be the most ethical - delete the data so nobody can use it. But there is no guarantee that Aztechnology don't have a backup of their project off site or that they won't just retry the research elsewhere.

The second option is hard to judge as you don't know who ends up with it. It could even be that Aztechnology have just bought it back from you for a tiny amount.

For the third option it seems unethical since it means anyone might now be able to try using this magic. But on the flipside it means everyone now knows about this magic so it can't be used as a secret weapon. If anything I'd expect people to develop countermeasures to it since the techniques behind it have been exposed.

You have detailed the logical and moral objections to options 1 and 2. I haven't actually gotten to that point yet ... I am pinned down by the damned bloodmages ... so the question hasn't yet arisen, but option 3 seems to answer all of the objections to the first two.

On the other hand, if you are an amoral shadowrunner, grab all the profit you can.

I wanted the achi so I went with 3, and then came up with the same list of pros and cons to justify it to myself. I did feel my team was right that I should delete it.

What happens with President Dragon in cases 1 and 2? In case 3 it says it's suspected he was killed by powerful blood magic, implying that it's neither common knowledge or being developed countermeasurs for. Maybe Schockwellenreiter is too obscure to make a difference, or betrayed what they promised the player? Can any bookreaders say which sounds more like them (are they in the books for that matter)?

I don't know about the books, but if you look here: C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\SteamApps\common\Shadowrun Dragonfall Director's Cut\Dragonfall_Data\StreamingAssets\ContentPacks\DragonfallExtended\data\misc you can find all of the end epilogue texts which don't take into account what you did with the data and pretty much all say the dragon is assassinated.

This response is somewhat in character, but read on:

Pro move is to delete it.
Selling it is bad news. Aztechnology could well pay the high bid (since they know exactly what it is) which is indirect proof that the facility was intentionally targeted. Reprisals to follow.
Another corp getting it could be almost as bad. It raises the stakes, and makes them want to match Aztechnology's investment in targeted sorcery.

Even if the SWR don't distribute it, which is their stated intent, someone there knows it exists, and that your team had a unexpurged copy. Bad for your immediate safety.

Best bet is to take your obscenely large paycheck and forget all about it. Some runs are like that.
