You cannot, however, just remove an item and "uncyber" yourself. That arm, or eye, or whatever which was replaced is gone for good. Essence is limited, so plan carefully.
Now, if you maximize all your paydata from Martix runs, do every available run, sell the Shockweilenreiters every bit of data they want, and do all of Duerr's missions, you can actually end up with a nice surplus of cash by the time you are ready to hit APEX Rising.
There's a bunch of stuff to spend it on though, and not just cyberware. I get Dietrich a few exrtra spells, buy Eiger an assault rifle (to tide her over until you do the Engineer run, when she can pick up the Steyr), and, if I'm in the mood, I buy Glory the Vindicator (Eiger actually being too weak to use the darned thing). And of course, you will want the best armor for yourself (crewmember armor can't be changed, alas).
Cash flow management is part of a successful Shadowrunner's skill set.
The rest does improve with time.
