High end melee weapons
Fairly early in the game, my close combat guy bought himself a well-forged katana. It woked OK; nothing special, but then at that stage of the game he wasn't all that accurate or skilled. Further down the line, he picked up the dikote katana. I must say, I didn't notice all that much difference in the results.

So, can anyone quantify the differences in these two weapons for me? Is the Dikote weapon supposed to give more frequent critical hits, or more severe ones?

It's now late in the game, heading into APEX Rising. Now we have another two rather more expensive weapons show up. The description of the Laser Axe shows why it's expensive; the base damage is increased. The sword is a bit more obscure. The blurb for the Monosword says that it is "more accurate". All the stats look the same as the Dikote blade, however. What exactly does "more accurate" mean in this context? I seriously doubt that it actually has a better hit %; is it supposed to do more severe or more frequent critical hits?

I could just buy it and use it alternating with the Dikoted Katana, and compare results, but that seems like a lot of bother; I would have to do a comparison of dozens if not hundreds of attacks to do an accurate comparison. Does anyone have any concrete knowledge of the actual differences (If any!) of these two swords?

OK, I did some research; old posts from a year or so ago seem to indicate that there is in fact no difference between the mono sword and a dikoted katana. Also, the laser axe is pure damage oriented; it doesn't do AP damage. In fact, apparently you can't use pommel strike with it; it's not a sword, and thus doesn't have a pommel.

Sheesh. Sounds like a real rip off.

Not much of a difference besides a +14% accuracy boost (default for melee weapons is +10%) on the rangeModTable (RMT) in the weapon file. The RMT is basically the max distance of where you can attack from. Since it's a melee weapon, there is only one RMT entry in the file.

I tested both the D. katana and Ares sword out in my Mystery Market UGC, switching between them while targeting enemies far away. Interestingly, this +4% accuracy boost effect only affects targets with a dodge level higher than or equal to five. Any more than six, it lowers the accuracy boost by a a percentage or two. If dodge level is less than five, the accuracy is the same between both swords regardless of the distance between the player and the target.

Sorry to advertise, but in my UGC, I set up a testing area where the player can test combat skills. There is a option where the player can spawn practice targets with the dodge level in their name. That's where I tested and came up with the results.

tl;dr It's alright at that point in the game.
