Is playing a battle mage fun?
I played the first game and this one simply as rifle-specialist, because it's nice and straightforward, and the other guns just seem to pale in comparison to a fully automatic burst. I then wanted to spice things up, and played the extended version of Dragonfall, and then Hong Kong, as a sword-wielding phys adept.

It's been a few years, and I'd like to pick this one up again. But I've never really played with magic in Shadowrun, aside from employing Dietrich and Gobbet for healing and support. I gave my adept a tiny bit of magic, for a couple of support spells and the ability to peek at people's auras.

Is going pure combat magic effective and entertaining?

Yes but I still like pistols and just enough cyber to use smartlinks.
