Stuck in Haitian Forest

I am stuck in the haitian forest level when you have to make the items for the chief. I understand you get most of the items from enemies but how do you get chopped pecans? I have regular pecans but where do I turn them into chopped pecans?

Haitian Jungle
Go east to the Haitian Village. Go south-east across the river and speak with the tribe leader: Chief Komon. You will now have to find the following items:
 3x Black Licorice – Dropped by Anaconda enemies in the jungle.
 2x Peppered Bacon – Fight Pigs in the jungle for Peppercorns, and get two pieces of Bacon from Olguess – the character in front of the hut above the river. Craft them together with the Peppered Bacon recipe.
 3x Chopped Pecans – Fight Pigs in the jungle for Pecans. Then take them to Lazy Lacky – the character standing a little bit north of Chief Komon – for chopping.
Once you have all items, give them to Chief Komon and he will wrap them up into an Offering. Leave the village at the north-east and travel all the way east, then north-east, then north, until you reach the Mines. Once there, explore until you find the Inner Cove where you must place the Offering.

I'm having trouble finding the mine. following the directions I read here, I could only make my way to the river and then north to the "stone foss"-thingy, but couldn't find the mine. As far as I know, there are only 2 exits from the village, aside from where you come in, one at the north, and one at the north-east. Did I miss something somewhere? any help would be nice.

The stones that lead into the water in Stonefoss have a full path to the other side, just not all of the stones are visible. You can walk down once you get to the far-right side of those stones.
