Abductor grabs are too OP + escape QTE not doing anything? NPC AI getting stuck.
Anybody noticed that Abductor attacks that "grapple" the player like the Ramosa-type bite and grab attack seems to be too OP? The game prompts to QTE spam the button to escape but it doesn't seem to do anything no matter how fast I spam it.

It ends up being a guaranteed player-killer and you can't get revived because in the Ramosa's case it runs far far away from the original fighting location before it throws you dead to the ground.

On a different note, I also notice that it seems ally NPCs become unresponsive or "confused" during battle or just totally ignore reviving their Accessories altogether despite being nearby. I honestly do not feel like the AI is this bad in the Vita version (which I still have now).

As an example, my Accessory gets stuck standing near one of the corners of the desert map with some boulders as footing when I order it to grab resources. It's not stuck on terrain and is on the sand without obstructions. It just stops gathering resources (despite one near the spot) and stands there shooting enemies and ignoring the command.

The NPCs also sometimes ignores my orders and goes doing their own thing. There's one mission where your target is a Quadraped but if you ignore it and just kill all other Abductors they eventually spawn in an All-Purpose Mk2 Biped that's not common at that stage. I order my allies to basically just follow me and ignore the Quadraped, but for some reason some of the NPCs just run straight to fighting it the moment the mission starts. I think they need to adjust this a bit.

Yes, the escape QTE doesn't seem to work on my end either. I can get grabbed at full health and mash that button like crazy, it is still a death sentence. As far as I know, the only way to get out of that is for your teammates to break a part of the enemy or make it fall.

I havent had issues with it. have you changed your controls by chance?

On mouse/keyboard I rarely escape, but on controller I can escape every time without fail. You need to mash very, very quickly.

As for partner AI, characters have different preferences - Hal, Elfriede, and especially Carlos sometimes go off on their own and fight other abductors than you do. The order "cover me" and "unify targets" should alleviate this somewhat.

Do get the occasional accessory stuck during gameplay as well, heck at some point I clipped myself out of bounds using my thorn.
No issues here, works just fine but I also... have been grabbed maaaaaybe twice. You can avoid dealing with the grab by not being grabbed, also.


The AI did that on vita too sometimes just leaving people down.

On PS5 I always manage to get out (haven’t been grabbed on PC since I only got to code 3 before switching to my physical copy on PS5).

The AI definitely sucks at getting out. I try to toss a flash grenade if I picked one up in the stage or something. Stuns them out of some annoying moves.

As for avoiding, I haven’t had too many issues with it either. I’d say 90% of my grabs are from over zealous severing. Lol

I had this problem in the original but am not having it here. I'm noticing pretty much every bug in original is in this one too including the big with the retribution that drops lots of caliburns where reinforcements won't show up making it unbeatable. How they completely revamped core systems but didn't fix any bugs, even the game breaking ones is not a good look...

Oh, forgot to mention I used KBM. I really don't like aiming with an analog stick in this game.

I know the AI has "personality" which basically dictates their affinity to doing certain things on their own. But my issue isn't that. They still do those things like they did back in the Vita version, but this one is more on a general sense. For example, Marie and Ann would go off on their own, let their Accessories die and get stranded somewhere, then try fighting enemies or Abductors in a different area of the map before getting themselves stuck stiff for some weird reason.

I've had Marie outright run headfirst into a Quadraped killing mission the moment the mission started while the rest of the party stayed still where I stood (since the default state would be they follow you in general when starting a mission). It's too random and sporadic to point out since there is some "normal" NPC AI at play as well. But it's definitely happening on my end.

They certainly did add them all in I guess. Sad that they didn't bother adding the Knuckles and Pistol weapon types to the loot/weapon tables though. A mod already made that happen back on the Vita but we took a step back here.

Beatrice gun would have been hilarious in PvP with all that hitstun.
I remember being able to escape every grab in the PSVita version, but not on PC. Big boi grabs me, I just die no matter how hard I mash that button.
Advice for controller players; Set up turbo button (O) on a free controller map like R3. There you go no more smashing O like crazy.

Thing is, that's how the pistol is supposed to be since they're all basically Magnum revolvers. If you listen to the gunshot sound for pistols they're the only small guns with such a powerful sounding sfx in the game. I think they have low per clip ammo that's even less than the sniper, but the vsHuman impact is high with low scatter effect. Hoping the devs patch these weapons back in as well as fixing these bugs to be honest.

This was greenlit and released primarily to gauge interest and determine whether a sequel would be viable. I wouldn't hold my breath for new content in any form.

Hopefully this does well enough across all platforms that they finally make Freedom Wars 2.

I've escaped plenty of times haven't been killed by a grapple yet. I get grappled git my O button and then he does his break out animation and the fight continues
