Stuttering/Low FPS Fix (For some)
If people are having issues with getting extremely low fps or fluxing fps where it goes slow but then for a while goes normal/fast.

Try limiting the game's FPS to 58-60 FPS (60 works for me) using your GPU's Program Settings.

IE: NVIDIA Control Panel -> Manage 3D Settings -> Add Program -> Go to Freedom War's Folder on your PC -> Select "Start.Exe" -> Scroll down a bit to Max Frame Rate and set it to 60

Sadly seems to be an old issue that comes with porting games from 2010 - 2017 to PC, as the game's engine is not capable of going faster then intended

I've done a whole ton of trouble shooting. Unfortunately it seems to be something inherent in the game files causing a frame pacing issue. Now if it's because of EAC I can't say, play plenty of games using it without this issue, however what I did was I did the above, added it into the Nvidia App control menu as well, went from 1440p to 4K 144Hz(Monitor) and set G-Sync/Variable Refresh to on it's now no longer an issue. I know some don't have that luxury but it's what you do when you love a game.

No issues here and i'm confused how anyone is having problems with a game this old. It works fine.

Incase this isn't trolling, the issue is the game has a frame pacing issue that crops up almost instantly for a lot of people, causing 4-5 FPS "dips" every couple of seconds. It's not even crashes for me, it's the stuttering.

The .exe name is "start.exe". I'm pretty confident that's what is causing the problems for a lot of people. It's probably applying a driver preset from something else, thus causing the performance problems.

I noticed this too in the Nvidia App. However It also came up as "Age Of Pirates 2" in my Control Panel so that's an oddity.

Then you're a moron that hasn't been paying attention. I have a 4090 that can run cyberpunk and star citizen at 4k at max settings. The issue appears to be with those of us on the latest build of Windows 11, 24H2 - which causes intermittent frame drops and crashes. Over the past few days there have been numerous posts about this where we've been able to identify a number of factors, but the common denominators across cards and cpus is that those without an issue aren't on Win 11 24H2.

It has nothing to do with the age of the game, as a majority of that code has been completed updated and refreshed to account for modern machines and the new features they added.

Don't want to be a stick in the mud, but im on 23H2 with a 4070 TI and I have no crashes but constant frame stutter.

You can try to create a specific profile for it in Profile Inspector. This is not the first (and will not be the last) time something like this happens. Clueless devs needs to be more smart when naming their game .exe.

Windows 12 24h2, keep in mind that I have a 4060ti 16 GB and If I play the game normally, it crashes after a few minutes but the performance is good without stutter. However, if I rename the files and disable Easy Anti-Cheat, the game doesn't crash but I experience terrible stuttering (with a GPU with 16 GB of VRAM, lol) For Now i waste 50 bucks totally unplayble...

It's pretty odd now, I click "Age Of Pirates 2" but it defaults to a code string of "0x2D4C:0x7176" at the top and I can't remove it. Was trying to see if I removed both it and the start.exe and forcibly re-named it if it would fix anything.

EDIT: Seems like it defaults to the first item at the top of the list when clicked. Code string had nothing to do with it.

JUst leave the name, it's just NVIDIA having old exe names from years ago and using those names when they see application name, it's Freedom Wars and changing the settings will work regardless

When creating a new profile in Inspector, select "Application absolute path" and chose the start.exe from the installation folder.

Gotcha. Managed to undo some Nvidia shenanigans and got the .exe renamed properly so hopefully it fixes some issues.
