Those that are experiencing performance issues and crashing
EDIT: As we suspected after discussing it in this thread, Win11 version 24H2 seems to be what is causing all the issues.

24H2 is known to cause issues with many games. To check which version of windows you are using, press the windows key+R, type winver in the command line and press enter.

The process for reverting back to 23H2 is beyond the scope of this post and can be found through other sources easily enough if you do not know how.

OP:
If you are experiencing performance issues and crashes and come here for help yet fail to list your hardware specs how is anyone supposed to help you? Are we supposed to divine your operating environment?

I have had zero performance issues or crashes.

Win11 (23H2)
i9 11900k
RTX3080ti
32gb ram
samsung 840evo

If you do not know your hardware specifications for whatever reason, type dxdiag in the search bar and execute. If these crashes and performance issues can be narrowed down to certain operating environments the community may actually be able to help you.

Edit: With the game running my resource manager is showing the following:

Freedom Wars Process:
CPU utilization: 23%
Memory: 591MB

System Wide:
GPU Utilization: 30 - 50%
GPU Memory: 3.1GB
CPU Utilization: 23 - 30%
Memory: 8.6GB

So far the hardware data listed here is fairly diverse, some of which is superior to my own, yet I have not experienced a single issue while everyone that has posted here supposedly has.

The only thing I've experienced that could even remotely be considered an issue was a frame drop when my sinner pulled Julien from the abductor. Other than that I haven't even had a stutter, let alone a crash.

Everyone that has bothered with listing their operating system is using win11, so the problem is not with win11.

Every Nvidia card listed is a 3000 series or above. I can only assume and hope that everyone is running up to date drivers.

We have people running both intel and amd.

Why are all of these people have issues while my experience has been as near to flawless as possible?

Is everyone here running an antivirus/malware software other than what is included in win11? Mine is stock windows solution. Same with firewall, etc.

I am running openshell and explorerpatcher, so my windows environment isn't exactly standard but it wouldn't effect any games.

There is one common thread here: all the people in this thread thus far have listed Nvidia GPUs.

Like you, my experience has been mostly flawless (even down to the fact that my only stutter/frame drop moment was when I pulled the citizen from the Abductor in the training mission rather than the one with Julien). My PC is built with an AMD CPU and GPU, so I wonder if this is largely an issue with Nvidia GPUs.

I am also using an Nvidia GPU however, and as stated previously the only issue I had was pulling Julien from the abductor. I don't really see a common thread between the hardware listed so far, so i can't help but wonder if there is a common issue somewhere within the operating environment of everyone here.

The windows version thing earlier was a lightbulb moment but ended up being a dead end by the very next reply. The thing with software is that it could be a million different things. is everyone with issues running the same performance monitoring software with an overlay function? Are they all running a third party antivirus? There is just to much to explore.

i will say that I do not run any third party antivirus or firewall or anything else. The security suite on my pc is bog standard windows defender. I have nothing overclocked, have no overclocking software suite installed or any hardware GUI installed honestly. The only overlay active is the Steam overlay.

I am playing with an Xbox controller, whatever the current version of it is called, and am using whatever steam input defaults to for this game. I have no other hardware connected beyond a mouse, 2 keyboards, a Schitt stack, two monitors and an oled tv.

I still think it may be the 24H2 update, cause stutters of 3 frames isn't muuuch... The stuff that I've experienced is freezes for a second or two, frames dropping down to 1 before returning to normal for roughly 5-15 seconds in between drops.

Can you still roll back windows updates? I honestly haven't had to deal with that in a long time. You are making me want to turn off automatic updates however.

You can if you have in the last 10 days of updating, however in my case, since I made a fresh install with the 24h2 update, I can't go backwards unless go to uppdump for a 23h2 version of windows, and I do another clean install on my pc, deleting everything. :C

I'm playing using 22H2 with minimal stutter, not sure if this helps
Playing on an RTX 4090, Ryzen 9 9950X, 32GB RAM on Windows 11 24H. My crashes ended by circumventing the anti cheat software, which isn't really a solution since I can't go online. Just a temporary bandage. I'm getting stutters every minute or so though, give or take. Not sure what's up with that.

This seems to suggest that the newest version of windows has issues with EAC. I would offer to update and check, but I'm not that noble and I want the game to continue running perfectly fine on my pc. Sorry folks.

I edited the original post to reflect that reverting to 23H2 from 24H2 seems to fix most issues.
helix Jan 11 @ 2:57pm
The update is not causing *all* the issues, but it's probably causing some of them.

For me, I've never been on this problematic update, I'm using AMD, and I've had performance issues here and there where I'm consistently getting large stutters every 5-15 seconds during missions with 60 fps gameplay between.

No crashes, but it makes it almost impossible to play without getting killed during the unfortunate timing the stutters want to hit me. I think I had one session where I didn't have this issue (for some reason), the other two have been brutal. Hoping a patch comes to fix it.

Win 11 64B 24H2 (Build 26100.2605)
- Ryzen 5 3600
- RX 6600XT
- 16Gb Ram 3200Mhz on Dual Channel (Not sure if this could affect but writting it just in
case).
- NVME 500Gb

My game runs perfectly except for a bug when I interact with the Screen inside my Cell sometimes (The game keeps running, idle animations are still running but the Screen doesn't show any options, it's just my character stuck there and I can't cancel, so I have to reset the Game).

Bleh. my CPU exploded recently and when I reinstalled its 24h2 so I'm out of options besides waiting.

Out of curiosity, has anyone had any issues with running the game on Windows 10?

I've seen many comment that they are on Windows 10 and the game runs fine, but none that have said it doesn't, so make of that what you will.

The 24H2 update was actually frozen by Microsoft after it was discovered how much 3rd party software it broke. I have automatic updates turned on, but luckily these updates go out in waves and it was frozen before it go to me.
