need some help with material gathering

i need the item composite sensor: quadruped mk 1
been fighting them but item hasnt dropped. looked online and just seen posts saying to break its tail but the tail its self isnt target-able and even with the barbara blaster at point blank emptying my ammo into it. it still doesn't break. anyone here have better luck getting the item that can let me know how yall got it?

just got it to drop it was indeed from the tail just had to keep laying into the tail with my melee weapon when the quadruped was in its down state.
