Tired of..
Tired of being thrown back to the very start after I die. It makes the game a real chore and becomes boring. How can I save my progress?

I'm not as good with this game as my old Road Rash 1 & 2 games from years ago. LOL

We're going to work on difficulty balancing. Remember that you can get better every time by buying upgrades at the skill tree.

Good to hear.. I wish it would save at the start of each level (stage) so I only go back to the last stage I died on not all the way back to the beginning. :)

If you didn't go back to stage 1 when you died it would really ruin the feel of the game. Maybe if that was added to the regular campaign and regular campaign was aimed at novices. This would be fine. But the campaign + should ALWAYS send you to stage 1 when you die as to keep the feel of this game in tact. The idea is to finish the game in a single playthrough and get better at the game itself. not save at the beginning of each level and HOPEFULLY with enough tries fluke it past said level.

I love the feel of campaign +, being one hit with a critical strike from the opponent is a real blast and makes it that much harder.

Maybe I don't want to finish the game in a single playthrough. I have health issues which dictate I cannnot sit in front of the computer for longer periods at a time. And if one never gets good enough to complete the game in one go the game will become boring and not recommended to others. The level with the cars falling out of the sky is the one I hate. If I could save at the start of that level I may become better at it.. but as it is now I cannot.

Road Redemption is a Roguelike, which means that you only have one life, but it's different every time you play it. It's similar in structure to Spelunky, FTL, Rogue Legacy, etc.

Are you playing with gamepad or mouse and keyboard?
Mark Oct 23, 2014 @ 1:41am
I have tried both, the gamepad is a bit better, way to hard with the keyboard.
Can't the game have its own character other then be simular to other games past or present? lol

Once you upgraded to a maximum the game became a cakewalk. It's possible to beat the entire campaign in ~15 minutes without buying anything from the store.

Totally agree with RadeonX1950.

For the health issue I believe there is a pause button and alt + tab to minimize. With a gamepad the game is easy to learn and not that hard to master.

Do you know all features of your bike and rider with a gamepad? (Xbox)
Deflection (A), grab (RB with melee weapon out), kick (B) , jump jets (LB), handbrake (LT), shooting (RB), aiming (Right Stick), CAMERA control (Right Stick), weapon switching (DPad), acceleration (RT), Steering (Left Stick) [just for the list to be complete] and of course left and right attack. (X\Y)

For raining car levels it is slightly easier if you tilt the camera upwards just a little bit to get a better view of the falling cars and with the most recent updates the raining cars are alot more predictable.

On EVERY level test your jump jets... Sometimes they are available on other tracks in normal campaign. This can help alot if you are having trouble.

Use grabs and kicks. They are easy to perform and payoff big if your low on resources and score environment kills.

Don't know what other advice I can give you at this point.

Is it possible to implement a save feature like in FTL? of course, going back to the start if you lose is part of the essence, but I do agree that the game shouldn't punish you for having to leave.

Seriously, with the current size of the campaign if the game doesn't put you back to the start after you die the experience will drain drastically and everyone will get tired easily. RoadRedemption Devs already fixed the difficulty balance issue, that's why I finally completed the game.

I just don't want another game that is good but so easy because of save feature, like for example Vanquish and Uncharted Series.

My suggestion to solve this problem would be adding another mode based in Road Rash series (a mixed version of Genesis + 3DO + N64), were you have six tracks and five levels, at each race you can stop playing at anytime (saving progress) and at each level the race gets bigger tracks. This way everyone would be happy.

Probably the devs are going to the route I mentioned (Road Rash mode suggestion) as they already confirmed here in the forums that they want to please old school gamers and newcomers.

The game already lets you skip to level 3 after unlocking a few perks, adding checkpointed saves every level isn't going to kill the game. Even a difficulty setting that adjusts how many lives you start the game with would help.
Also even the most hardcore roguelikes let you save. They just delete the save after you die.

I agree. This would be a good solution for people that needs to take breaks because of their health.

If you want to take a break you quit the game. When you feel confortable you can continue your campaign at anytime, but when you die during the game, you need to restart the campaign (mantaining all xp that was gained, of course).

Well now you mention it, as long as this couldn't be exploited by alt + f4ing at death to avoid losing and reloading the save data to try again it wouldn't be such a bad idea.
