Road Redemption

Road Redemption

NON-XBOX360 GAMEPAD USERS
Road Redemption uses the Xinput dll for its gamepad input. This allows us to do things like have force feedback support - something you won't find in a lot of other Unity Engine games.

If you want to use a gamepad that is NOT an xbox 360/xbox one gamepad, download x360ce.App-2.1.2.191.zip from this link: https://code.google.com/p/x360ce/downloads/list

It's an Xbox 360 gamepad emulator.

Excellent! Was frustrated using the keyboard...

Ok, so i tested with my PSOne Dual Shock controller and the Up button is actually Down on the Dpad.
Other default things are kinda weird for me.... here's some suggestions.
I find it more natural for Cross to be confirm buttons and not Triangle. R2 can be acceleration but L1 should be the drift(?) button, L2 feels kinda awkward for that.
The attack buttons should be changed too, Square should be Left attack and Circle should be Right attack and Kicks should be changed to Triangle. Change Jump Jets to L2.
Other than that everything's fine.
I am also usin a thrustmaster dual trigger 3 in 1, and I am using the latest TocaEdit Xbox360 Emulator, and it works fine with many games that are (frustratingly) limited to xbox controllers, but in this game I get nothing out of it, if I put it on analog setting, it will just madly keep circulating between options, completely out of control. If I take it off of that setting, it does nothing, but if I so much as hit one button, nothing works anymore, not even the mouse pointer.

I was SUCH a huge Road Rash fan and was itching to get my hands on this game, only to find out none of my currently owned controllers (I have three of these) actually work. Is this just something that's not yet properly implemented or do I have to fork out cash for an xbox controller? (not gonna happen, to be honest)

...what a let down, to be honest! Even with the proper emulation software that I've succesfully used to often and everything set up like it works for all the other games that ask me to do this, it's hopeless as it seems.. any additional tips, or should I just give up on my childhood dream of ever playing road rash in a kickass modern incarnation?

....regards, a very disappointed customer.
My rider keeps going backwards!

I've found that the xbox emulator software seems to register the left trigger on my Saitek P880 as always on - which explains why it's happening.

Question is though, what can I do about it? - the gamepad is fine outside of the emulator and testing on the Saitek control panel shows no problem and the button only registers when I press it.

Must be a problem with the emulator rather then the game. Can anyone help me with this at all please?

UPDATE - fixed it. Had to try a different USB port and then twiddle with the settings. also downloaded older version of emulator. Note sure what the ultimate fix was but I'm not going to touch it now!

Any more trouble and I'll just have to buy a XBox gamepad - too much like hard work otherwise.

My view keeps changing, it keeps going down to the floor, how can I change this it's anoying.
I has this at one point - I can only suggest you try what I did in my post above - switch usb ports and check the emulator software doesn't appear to register a button press when you are not pressing one.

Greetings Devs. I think it very important to have a thread where the controller/game setup and requirements (for different game modes) are made clear.

For instance, When attempting to play local co-op/multiplayer split screen - Does one need two console type controllers or one can use a controller and one can use keyboard and mouse ? How does one setup for local split screen play ? What if one person prefers keyboard and mouse vs controller, or vice versa, how can this be remedied in a local multiplayer enviroment ?

When I attempted to use both, if I hit enter to use the keyboard as a player, then when I initiated the game controller it wasn't recognized. Then I couldn't get the controller to work by itself. I'm starting to suspect I need a keyboard / controller emulator to make local split screen work ?

I know everyone is clamouring for online multiplayer, but isn't that a bit premature if the control interface and binding features are not finished and polished for at least the original "road rash" split screen experience ? It sounds like since your using Unity, that your programming work will be cut out for you to design one since their native system is almost non-existent. "We recommend that you use an xinput emulation program in order to utilize your logitech gamepad with Road Redemption. The default Unity engine gamepad support is rubbish."

Would someone please clarify and post a controller thread and list the current state on the control interface and it's work arounds since it's apparently unfinished or at least, undocumented ?

Thanks !

using saitek p880 control and pinnacle emulation software , still get some cycling of options on start screen , I will try to tweak some settings ??? , some ideas for the game . have bikes , cars trucks catch fire and they can also catch you on fire if you get too close , add longer tracks please!!!!!!! water in and across the road , tunnels , cows, deer , people in and along the road to hit , side mounted weapons, flame throwers ,wheel spikes , machine guns
Any chance you could do a tutorial on how to set up a gamepad. I must be missing something, I have one that seems to work in the game menus but not in the game to control the bike
Hi! Is the actual build for Mac supporting the PS4 controller?
So what is the answer for someone Mac side using other controllers? I'm currently using a PS3 controller and I can't even navigate the menu's right now.
In order for the game to register me pressing the 'start' button I have to push both the lower shoulder buttons, and in game play the game constantly assumes I'm giving it both the gas and the brakes.
I've gone back and checked all my inputs, but I really have no idea what the game is using for my throttle and handbrake right now, because it doesn't allow me to set shoulder buttons for them.

The weird part about this, is that back when I first found out a Mac version had come out, the controller worked perfectly fine without issue.

Frustrating, isn't it? :RoadSplatter:
why make players download an xbox 360 controller emulator instead of also using dinput.dll so it will be easier for us rather than having to set up another program........................not singling out this developer but i notice it is common for pc developers to always assist microsoft in their unending greed. xinput should have been boycotted as it was a deliberate scheme by m$ to make it a pain in the ass to use a non-m$ controller on PC games.
Still no decent answer on the controller issue... not here, nor on the profile of the developer, where I also posted a similar query. I had so hoped this was a dev's passion project from having loved road rash in the past so much, but now I slowly begin to feel I bought into another half assed cash grab riding on the fame of a classic.... I realise it's still in development, and pardon the harsh language, but it's just VERY frustrating...

So please pretty please.. some help with this controller issue? Anything at all besides user-input of workarounds that do not actually work for everyone? A hint about having it on the to-do list? A confirmation things will be fixed? anything at all?

I'm itching to play WITHOUT having to buy a new controller just for this game, not when I have a handful already that work for every other game I have and that I need to use (the) emulation software for, let alone everything else..
I had some limited success with a Saitek P880 and emulation software, but in the end I gave up and bought an xbox 360 controller as it was too frustrating - more and more games seem to need the Xbox controller these days.

A shame I couldn't use the controller I had, but there you go.
