You missed the point of quick race mode.
Guys, astounding update, but I could not believe my disappointment.

I think you missed the point of quick race mode, it isn't to unlock levels by playing levels I don't want, the ENTIRE point of quick race mode was to play however you wanted, maybe with some options, not to be forced to do certain races to unlock other races.

Turn off this level unlock crap, and give us race settings like I described in the other post, or at least put it back the way it was so we can just select the track we want. Why would you butcher it like this? You went out of your way to do this.

As cool as all the new stuff was I could not even finish a race because I was too disappointed in what you did to QR mode.
I guess it's my mistake for calling it quick race mode instead of custom race mode.

Actually, I don't think it's that bad of an idea. Other racing games to incorporate rewards for racing go back as early as Need for Speed 3 Hot Pursuit in 1998 and Need for Speed Burning Asphalt in 1999. Both games also had a Quick Race Mode of sorts. Finishing first in all maps unlocked new cars or maps in both games.

It's a nice incentive.

When I think of a quick race mode, I think of a mode that lets you select any level you want, up to what you have completed, and go.
Thats nice.
When I think of quick race mode, or Custom Race Mode, I think select whatever options you want, cops, falling cars, hard enemies etc, select map, and go, and play how you want. We already have a campaign mode that is already a ''do this, now do that'' style of racing.

To top it off when multiplayer comes out what are we going to do? random races? uh no, CUSTOM race settings, duh.

I can see both as valid ways of wanting to enjoy Quick Race. It's certainly more en vogue right now to unlock pretty much half the game while playing its default campaign or w/e.

I'm ok with the carrot of unlockables, because Quick Race isn't really what I play the game for. I would be ok either way.

Chase that carrot on motorcycle hitting everyone around you with a nailed bat, headshotting bombers from far away with a shotgun and literary bombarding semi trucks with grenade launcher.
That carrot also let's you know that if you want to race without any campaign upgrades, then you have to prove you are good enough to survive it and thus not ragequit because X happened or guy Y did Z.
Even if you unlock all of the race modes there is no gaurantee that you will get the race mode you want. Doesn't anyone want to just go bam, and select the race mode they want to play? Be it city map, or falling cars with tough guys and cops and etc etc etc etc etc etc etc etc.

Or you just want random crappy race modes shoved down your throat just so you can unlock the next set of crappy race modes? Not sure how that is different from campaign.

And I'll throw this out there again because it seems no one listens.
What about when multiplayer gets here?! Don't you think we should get the option to set up a race the way we want it and play with other players? Or do you just want to select a limited number of default set ups?

This custom race mode system not only adds 500% replayability, and fun level to the game, it is a necessary step for good multiplayer.

Even if they can't give us all the options for whatever reason at least before we could just select a map and go, no unlock nonsense.

Sounds like you want a mini-sandbox mode more than Quick Race. Like "Quick Match" just throws you into some random game in most online games. Maybe here they think Quick Race is something similar, the IDGAF option. I'd prefer a mini-sandbox race mode too, because I likely woudln't play the other.

This was the initial design for classic mode. I have seen your feedback christian and I have been thinking about how to incorporate this.

Some aspects of a custom race are easier to implement than others. Traffic conditions are not very difficult. Enemy/weapon/pickup selection is considerably harder to implement.

It would be easy to allow you to control traffic conditions on classic mode missions once you gold trophy them.

I'm going to talk with the team about the realities of implementing a custom race system like you are suggesting.

The way multiplayer works is so different from single player that they really have no bearing on each other. They are not really compatible and what we implement in single player we basically have to reimplement in multi and vice versa.

You can already control a lot of elements in multiplayer that you can't control in single.
