is this game like road rash? i liked road rash
I liked road Rash not so much for the combat but just for the driving through the country roads and how it was kind of like cruisin' usa. will i like this game or is this more focused on combat?

It's a combat racer, so that's definitely a major part of the game. Lots of people think it's very much like ROAD RASH. I don't think it's mechanically similar (better graphics, up-to-date controls, skill tree, etc.) but they're of the same genre.

If you want a game that just lets you drive and check out beautiful scenery, take a look at AMERICAN TRUCK SIMULATOR.

i already have that. how are the maps in this game? are they fun to ride on and are they well - crafted or is it auto generated crap?

It's auto-generated. The game is fun and I like the driving, but it's meant to challenge and attack the player. There will be almost no moments while playing that you have time to relax. So if you're looking to cruise, I just don't think it's for you.

It is VERY much like Road Rash in fact so much so that some of the same game play tricks from Road Rash work on Road Redemption. Kicking for example. It was a good way to avoid hairpin turns in Road Rash on the Sega Genesis, 3DO, Sega Saturn/CD and PSX versions of the game works well here.

Kicking an opponent as you approach a hair pin turn makes your bike float to the center of the lane making the hair pin turns easier to negotiate, saving you critical seconds during a race that help earn cash and then upgrades/skills. Even some of the weapons work the same. This game to me, for what it plays and how it accomplishes it works PERFECTLY. I enjoyed Road Rash in Christmas of 1991 when it was first released I remember getting it for Christmas and playing the hell out of it.

Some of the levels were just sit back and chill and enjoy the scenery. Road Redemption is not like Road Rash in that respect though. I do enjoy the commentary by your gang leader too, some of the things he says are funny as are the reactions when you go gang hunting and take out the leaders. This game is well worth a buy now and so is the DLC since it is on sale right now.

The game is well WORTH the price for the MSRP right now. You should take advantage of it if you can but if you can't be assured this game is always on sale so either now or later I really recommend his game.

I would say that this game meets what you want, sure. The campaign may not be what you are looking for, because it is necessary to resort to combat. But you can play many levels without resorting to violence. Play with your friends too.:ChainLinks:

I have exactly the same quesrion about the game. I played only Rad Rash II on SEGA Mega-drive (good ol' day.s..) and i love it! I like the combat, that don't bther me. But this game has variety with maps? I mean desert, forest, city, snow, etc. Also you can buy various bikes and paint them?

And a side question, it's possible to run on foot and reach the finish line? In RRII after a certain crash your bikes explde if you try to ride it, but you can run for the finish line all the way, if a cop not around. This game has similar funny ...solutions?

Road Rash was the original game which was first released on Sega Genesis and yes, this game is exactly the same. I'm actually surprised they were able to remake the game without copyright problems.

No it's not, only with combat it is quite similar but there is more combat in Road Redemption.

One big difference in combat between the two, in the original Road Rash you could steal weapons from your enemies, in Road Redemption you start with them or get them from pickups throughout the tracks.

Another difference with the combat is Road Redemption includes guns Road Rash does not.

Original Road Rash (3DO/DOS) included a deep single player where you could view and upgrade your bikes parts in a garage, which you could save race progress, in Road Redemption it doesn't save your race progress but only the upgrades so you will have to start over if you do not meet the requirements of each race.

In Road Rash you also had a new main rival for each race which you could read about before each race, not in Road redemption it's free for all on the roads.

In Road Rash you started out with a slow bike which you could upgrade it's parts for faster parts, or you could buy a new bike. Although an upgrade system exists in Road redemption it's not as engaging.

Road Rash had 6 tracks but they were varied locations, they were in cities,Beach, countrysides and included people walking around (sprites) who you could run over, also if you fell off the bike you could run around, (you can't in Road Redemption) Road redemption's tracks IMO are not detailed and lack such variation, the game is still fun though :)

IMO< Road Rash was a racing game with a little bit of fighting and Road Redemption is a fighting game with racing. I still have my Sega Genesis and all 3 Road Rash games. It was very difficult to time your hits, and I would normally take out only 1-2 other racers at most. In Road Redemption I can take out 20+ other guys in the earlier races, and beat cars/trucks to death with my melee weapons. Road Redemption also has lots of guns, the later levels are very difficult with only melee weapons.
